John Wick character is missing entirely

So my friend got PD2, and wanted play as John Wick. But upon him going to switch over to Wick, (Who's supposed to be free anyway) we've realized is not there. Not even there but locked behind some achievement or DLC or whatever, just completely gone. He should've come with the base game, but Wick is no where to be found, yet I still have him. His mask "Collateral" is now labelled as "No Access" in his mask crafting menu too. What's happened?

Starbreeze can't continue paying for the permission to use the likeness of Keanu Reeves in their game, so John Wick was removed. (mostly, he's still part of the game data, but just no longer is a selectable character) Other crossover characters like Bodhi and Scarface have had similar treatment. There isn't much you or your friend can do, sadly, unless you want to take extreme measures.

He comes with joining the Community Group, he's not available simply by default. Same goes for his mask. Have your friend go to the Store Page and click the Follow button beneath the game trailers to join the Community Group and see if that unlocks him. There is a bug currently with the Community Group that means you often have to rejoin it every time you boot up the game unless you used the Fix Community Items Lock mod.

If you still aren't able to select him after joining the Community Group, then he's locked due to the licensing issues Insomnia mentioned.

Yeah no, still doesn't appear. Even after making a STARBREEZE Nebula account, still nothing. Guess they just lost the licensing to him. But that's really weird. Why isn't this as documented as Scarface or something? Nothing really outright saying something like this for Wick.

It's because of licensing issues, not a bug. Your friend doesn't have access to Wick as a result ever since a specific date after U240.3.

As far as I am aware, they were secretive about Wick and Bodhi when it came to doing this, so there's no precise date for when they were no longer unlockable.

i was before a epic games user when playing payday2 but swiched to steam for benefits and my friend but had the same problem of john just not being there every other one was there but not wick
