game crashes on startup, need help!!

I don't have any mods, I verify the files, and I uninstalled the game six times. My crash log is irrelevant as it only shows my last crash which was Nov 17 2023. My specs are AMD 5800x and GPU 7800xt. I really wanna play this game again. I also have a video of it happening.

Update 04/21/2024: So I think I found a fix! If you have payday 2 installed in the same NVME/SSD/HDD drive with Epic games, the game thinks you are trying to load payday 2 with Epic games instead of Steam. Uninstall the game and choose a different drive that does not contain Epic games in it. I tried that and it works, I can finally play payday 2!!!

When you say it's crashing on startup, do you mean it's not even launching, or it does launch and then immediately closes?

It is not launching. The cloud save starts and then immediately stops. However if I use -steamMM in launch option, it starts the game up.

I had the same issue, used steamMM in launch option the only work around I found sadly, I can barely find online lobbies because of that

same here which is why i wanna know if anyone found a away to fix it. I feel like i am trapped in some isolation chamber.

Congratulations, you have the Epic Games Launcher installed, which prevents the game from starting.
Either uninstall that, or... accept the game won't run without -steamMM.

(normally at this point I'd say "hope the developers fix it", but it's been almost a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ year since I first discovered this bug; they ain't fixing ♥♥♥♥)

you have epic games installed? imma uninstall it and see if it works.

Whilst I agree that this shouldn't be an issue and should be a number 1 priority for the devs to fix, you won't lose your library of games - you're only uninstalling the launcher.

agreed lmao, its still a hassle tho to keep installing and reinstalling and logging in etc... this problem shouldn't exist to begin with or stay for a year or how long it has been... incompetence

true, i never had this problem until i wanted to try out Fortnite. I guess installing epic games ruined it. I actually hope that was not the case because i remember the game is crossplay with epic which might caused issues since the game might confuse which one to boot with.
