Player Keeps Disconnecting
Hi,

My husband and I play payday 2 together on the same network. However, everytime we play, one of us disconnects from the game continously. For example, if I host, my husband disconnects and when he hosts, I disconnect. Other players seem fine. The problem seems to happen only when we are on the same network. Also, no other game has a problem like this. Only Payday 2 does. Any ideas on how we can fix this problem? I already lowered all my graphics in game to "very low." I also lowered my frame rate to 90. We have also tried hardlining the internet connection at different houses. None of these worked.

Information about my computer: ASUS
Nividia GTX 850M
Core i7
16GB ram

I really want to fix this problem so we can play normally without disconnecting. Please help however you can. Thank you!!!

Thats odd. I´d have to do a bit of research for this.
In the meantime, please have a look at this here and troubleshoot your connection.

(And please ask your husband to do the same.)

We both tried all the fixes that pertain to us. I still disconnect frequently, making it impossible to enjoy the game.

I tried fixing the DNS, but it was no good. Like Mr. Mole stated, he still disconnected from the game. Any updates on the researching? Appreciate the help!
Hm. Out of curiousity are you both connected via wifi to your router, or through an ethernet cable?

We are currently connected via Wifi. We also tried having one person use the ethernet cable. It didn't make a diference :/

Hm. Another few questions, if you will, when you join the other persons lobby do you see their character before you disconnect? Or not?

And do either of you have mods?

No mods. We can also see the other characters in the lobby. One of us just disconnects during the gameplay. Thank you!

Have you both tried to use a Ethernet cable? And did you restart your router already?

Yes, we have tried both.

Hm. Than please try to run the game without any other program running. And please also disable your backround processes.

Additionally, please have a look (both of you) at this list here. Ensure you run the game without any of these programs.

We've already tried those too.. One of us still disconnects from the game. :(

So the main problem right now is that we can't go through an entire game without one person losing connection. The game doesn't crash. It just essentially "drops" my husband out of the game. Sometimes he can't even reconnect to the game because it doesn't show up on Crimenet. However, other players can easily connect to my game and my husband can connect to other people's games easily without problems. It's just when we are on the same game.

This didn't happen until the recent updates a few months back. As of now, we can't even enjoy the download content we bought. I don't think it's the network or something wrong with our computers. We can play games like Left4dead, Minecraft, Portal 2, Project Zomboid, etc online just fine.

Make sure all you ports, which Steam needs, are opened.

Than troubleshoot your Connection again. For the sake of trying.

If you still disconnect while being in the same Network, please try (one of you) to change the Network. If you than can connect properly, it´s either your likely your Network which causes this.

If you still can´t connect properly, it´s probably your PC and (most likely) your Software or something with the game (rather unlikely), which causes the issue.

If it´s your Network, I´d o ahead and ask your ISP if they´ve got any ideas.
If it´s your PC / the game, check, if you recently installed new Software. If you did, please try to uninstall it. In case it still persists, check again what happens if you run the game without any non-essential programs.

We've tried troubleshooting our connection multiple times and have already called our ISP. Changing the Network was also ineffective. We've tried this same method at two different homes (our apartment and my mother's house.) Both gave the same problem of disconnecting.

Our ISP checked our internet speed and said our speed was fine. They have also changed our channel multiple times. None of this changed anything. As of now, we are using my mother's internet which is over 150mbps. Still it disconnects during gameplay. So far whoever is hosting can stay on the game along with random players.

And we did not install any new software. I don't know what is going on.

Yeaaah, me neither. I´m pretty much out of ideas.
Last thing which I can think of is to do a Steam Flush, and if that didin´t help to reinstall the game. But I doubt that would change anything.

(Steam Flush, in case you want to try it:
