Steam doesn't launch PAYDAY 2
It starts by the Steam client launching with a box saying "Preparing to launch PAYDAY 2...", disappears then nothing happens. How do I fix?

if you dont run these programs - add payday 2 as exception for your antivirus and firewall and try to start the game without non-essential programs as administrator
Nope, didn't work :(

Lets give something else a go,

Head over to Library again. And right click PayDay 2, following this head to properties -> Local Files -> Browse Local Files

In the folder, have a look for "payday2_win32_release" Right click it and run as administrator.

I can also recommend Clearing your Download Cache. We can do this from your Steam Client, open the Settings panel by selecting "Steam > Settings" from the top left client menu. In the Settings panel, select the Downloads tab and you'll find the "Clear Download Cache" button at the bottom. Then select "OK" to confirm and acknowledge that you'll need to login to Steam again

Finally we can try disabling the steam overlay, in Steam, click steam>settings>in-game>enable steamOverlay If its already enabled, disable it and restart steam. Good luck!

You might want to check the integrity of your game files, you can do this by going to Library (On the top menu) -> Right clicking on Payday 2 and selecting properties -> Local Files -> And select "View Integrity Of Game Files". Once its finished and if it has installed any missing files restart your computer and try again

Run the game as administrator to see if it makes any difference,
If you have installed any mods prior to the time of the game now launching then remove them and see if it works.

Best of luck,

I did that, and it said it failed to validate 1 file. What should I do?

Thanks everyone :D I found out the problem.

For some reason, two types of files went missing (MSVCP10.dll and VCRUNTIME10.dll or something like that) so I looked for tutorials on how to get them back and did so; now the game works!

I had the same "not launching" issue on Windows 10. Checked all ms installed libraries, system files, C++ redistributable versions, steamchecks..blablabla, whatever, in the end, I copied the msvcr120.dll file in the Payday2 folder and finally worked!. Here are the links I found in this page:
MSVCR120.dll (32 bits) - https://www.tuexperto.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/msvcr120-dll-64-bits.zip
MSVCR120.dll (64 bits) - https://www.tuexperto.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/msvcr120-dll-32-bits.zip

This thread is quite old and your issue might be completely unrelated. You're better off starting a new thread in the bug section.
