Missing file

There's no payday 2 file in appdata. I tried verifying game files and making a new payday 2 folders, but it doesn't work at all. Is thid the reason why i can't launch payday 2?

Hi. Since you said that you don't have the PayDay2 in Local AppData then can you try to provide us more information? We think we need 2 information from you

1. can you try to run your game using an administrator mode from your root folder? Here is how you can do it.

How to run this game using an administrator mode

1. Double click your steam client program to open it
   
2. On the top left. Click at "Library"
   
3. Find the game Payday 2. When you have found it. Right click on the game and chose "Properties"
   
4. Go to "Local Files", then click "Browse Local Files"
   
5. You should see payday2_win32_release file. Right click on that file
   
6. Choose "Properties"
   
7. Go to "Compatibility" tab, then check the box "Run this program as an administrator"
   
8. Tell me which errors you have received

2. please post your crash.txt if you have it. Here is how you can do it.

How to find crash.txt

1. Open your window explorer or window search bar that is located in Windows icon on the left.
   Copy and paste this line and press Enter.
   

   %localappdata%\PAYDAY 2

2. Find the file called "crash" right click, then open it using notepad or notepad++ programs.
   
3. Copy everything you have got and post it in this thread.

I can't find payday 2 renderer_settings or crash files
The files are probably hidden. To fix that. You must change your folder option to show hidden files, and you should see those files already. Watch this gif picture to understand how to show hidden files[giant.gfycat.com].

The program can't start because api-ms-win-crt-runtime-l1-1-0.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem


I also have the Show hidden folderes option checked.

Can you show me all "Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable programs" and "Microsoft .NET Framework" do you have? Open your "Control Panel" then go to "Uninstall a program" and take a picture and post it in this thread. Thanks and you thought it correctly. This game required Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 but since you have Microsoft Visual C++ 2017 then you have to do like this:
1. Download Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2015 from: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=48145
2. Uninstall your Microsoft Visual C++ 2017 every versions.
3. Reboot your PC
4. Install 2015 both x86 and x64 versions by using the file that you have downloaded.
5. Reboot your PC again
6. Test your game. If you can't start it. Run the game as an administrator mode and tell which error do you have this time.

Depends on your Windows OS. Which Windows OS do you have? And is it 64bits version?

Unless it said your Windows is up to date then you may have to download an update manually.

Normally. Downloading dll file won't work and it can harm your computer more than help you fix your issue.

Still. Have you updated your Windows? Since it's the very important step to fix your issue.
