Please don't leave a negative review, that causes us a lot more pain than you'd think! I've seen your posts and have been looking into this issue today, I just wanted to have enough information to respond properly. I'm confident we can fix this for you :)
I can't see any reason yet for it to happen, and we've tested with controllers a lot (we all have various controllers on our desks!), so it's definitely unusual. There are lots of possible things happening here so I'd really appreciate it if you could send some more information to help us track it down.
What's very interesting is that the fans spin up and you have to force quit the game - is this what *always* happens when the controller stops responding? Or are you able to still control the game a little (perhaps with mouse and keyboard) - just that the controller stops working with the game?
Another thing that would really help is some detailed system information (it's possibly a driver issue) and some game logs. The whole user data folder would be best - could zip up the "Two Point Museum" folder from here:
C:\Users\[Username]\AppData\LocalLow\Two Point Studios\ (type %APPDATA% in to file explorer and press enter)
System information you can generate using DXDiag, we have a guide for that here:
https://support.sega.com/hc/en-gb/articles/201556491-Creating-a-DXDIAG-Report
Could you then either head to our bug forum here (which allows attachments): https://community.twopointcounty.com/two-point-studios/two-point-museum/bugs - or email them to support@twopointstudios.com (might need to upload to wetransfer/GDrive or something if they're too big for email).
Thanks,
Ben
For me the controller would stop working there would be fan spin up the keyboard and mouse would still work but when i try to quit the game it would just freeze up and hang till i force closed it every time

I've sent the requested information to the support mail.
Hey Ben thanks so much for the response! For me, the exact order is
1) Controller is working and playing the game fine
2) Brief "hang" where the game freezes for about a second
3) Controller no longer responsive
4) Fans spin up to max, CPU heats up until it throttles
5) Can still open the pause menu, so pause, quit to desktop
6) Game goes nonresponsive after clicking quit to desktop and I have to force close with task manager
I tried three times last night and it happened the exact same way every time. I will grab the info you requested and send it over. Appreciate you all taking a look!!
So the workaround is simple: use the steam controller mapping engine. Usually this messes up some certain games so I default to having it off, but if you turn it on for this game it seems to workaround whatever issue is causing this. At least from initial testing I was able to play for a couple hours without issue doing this.
hope others find this helpful and maybe also helps the dev understand where it might be having issues. I'll update if this fails for me.
Thank you for that additional info W1z@rd83 I will pass that on to the programmers now!
Sorry for this problem!
