Its not that I can't see (I can't, but thats not the issue). Its that its too dark, which is not appealing. Some rooms, if you make them large, become very dark and you can't put amber light in them.
Edit: I should mention that I use Reshade with the game, and one of the filters I use is a CEOG filter, which lets me tweak Contrast, Exposure, Offset and Gamma. I have both contrast and Exposure tweaked higher. Doesn't really make the game "brighter", but it does make it look less dull and washed out.
You might be a affected by a bug which will be patched soon
Could you please let me know if you're playing on Mac, Linux, Steamdeck or Windows?
It would also be great to see screenshots - you can either add those here or send to support@twopointstudios.com
Many thanks ,
Jo
Thanks Jo! I hope you guys will be able to resolved the bug soon!
I'm playing on an older Macbook with Intel graphic, and just bought the game yesterday together with the explorer pack, but can't even play it. I'm stuck on the first crate arriving at campaign mode. The shadows look weird, everything looks dark, and if I move my cursor after the box of artifacts arrives, the screen will freeze, flashing and then the screen turns black. Tried with the sandbox mode and still the same.
I'll send few screenshots via e-mail!

Wailon Lodge - is extremely dark
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3451046910
Memento Mile - has dark spots once you expand plus the shop is really dark regardless where I place it.

& Passwater Cove - has extreme shadowed areas (outside bright and light but inside it can have dark spots unless i add a bunch of lighting around) but the shop interior has better lighting compared to MM and WL. If I have the lantern fish tank near the ink squid then that whole section gets extra dark. The shadows are just more extreme.

Bungle Wasteland and Pebberley Heights are fine but the shop still casts a dark shadow inside it. Having said this however if I turn my POV in a certain angle at Bungle then faces get shadowed a little heavily.
The best lighting is the challenge maps, even the shops are lighter.
Here are some details in case it helps. I play on steam/Windows. My graphic settings are:
Full Screen Window
1920x1080 @59.98hz
VSync is on
Framerate Limit is Unlimited
Quality Presets is High
Antialiasing Mode SMAA
Antialiasing Mode Medium
MSAA Samples x2
Lighting Quality is High (note: nothing changes when I reduce this)
Shadow High (note: nothing changes when I reduce this)
Screen Space Reflections High
Ambient Occ Mode HBAO
Ambient Occ Quality High
Bloom on
DOF On
Anisotropic Filtering On
Texture Quality High
Character Draw Distance 100%
World Detail 70%
edit: let me know if you'd like me to try a different setting, don't mind being a guinea pig on this.
