Devs: You can overflow a fish tanks max capacity
Not aware if it causes any gameplay issue, but noticed its possible to overflow a fish tanks max capacity using the breeding mechanic.
I use tanks with a max capacity of 6, but if more than one fish breeds at the same time, you can get more fish in a tank that technically shouldn't hold them.
Had a capacity of 5, two bred and i had 7 in a max 6 tank.
Replicated it and had 8 in a max 6 tank.

Does this keep going higher? can you keep breeding them above that or does the overflow prevent them from breeding more?
You can overflow once before having to move fish out the tank to overflow it again.
It’s just random chance if you get more than one fish breed at the same time.
Most I’ve had so far is 9 in a 6 size tank.

He's just talking about aquarium sizes.
I'm talking about having 7-8 fish in a aquarium that is only supposed to hold 6.
If you have more than one fish breed at the same time, you end up with more fish than the max capacity of the tank.
EG: 7 fish in a 6 size tank.

Yes, I understand, however, these tanks hold 12 small fish, there is much less risk of an overflow, and maybe you could fit 15, who knows.

Any tank in real life you could put as many fish in as your filter could handle, once the filter fails or not enough oxygen then the fish would die. This is why the game tells us this and the fish has a bar for health.

Technically we should be able to go above 6 but the game stops us from going over 6. I haven't got to breeding in this game yet, so I would assume it has to let you go over 6 to be able to breed but the longer it's over 6, the fish would be at risk of dying.

That's how it should work.
Its far more game-y mechanics than real life.
Breeding occurs when there are more than two fish in a tank and the tank has the capacity to take more fish.
But i've found that breeding can happen more than once in the same tank at the exact same time.
So as i've said, a tank can end up holding over its normal capacity, so 7/6 instead of stopping at 6/6.
Normally if you try to add more fish to a full tank it stops you and states "at full capacity".
So its a way of getting more fish in a tank than you are supposed to.
The video is really nice, showing an excellent aquarium layout, didnt think about this one yet :D Thank you! Great tip.

Nevertheless, this thread should be moved to Bugs sub-forum because overflowing of fish tank capacity shouldnt be possible and is a bug then. You should not be able to breed when capacity is not enough - or is that intended?

waiting for a mod that allows us to increase the amount of fish based on size, like double the number currently
