If you put 2 entries in your gift shop, you can connect two sections this way. People then are forced to walk through the shop and most of them also buy stuff there. It works really well for me to make some extra money. This is my first gift shop that I built like this:

Additionally, I placed a second shop near the exit.

i'm glad it's not just me, and appreciate your workaround, but ultimately, what were the devs thinking? It should be possible to put an external exit on the gift shop. Exit through gift shop. Go to literally any museum.

You can funnel guests through a shop, no worries.

Yup, I get how to funnel. I just want my guests to experience the thrill of having any remaining cash extracted from them moments before the cold air hits them and they realise that have absolutely no need for that novelty tea towel or pen, and that they are never going to read that fascinating book.

And you can do that, and you can put gift shops right up against exits if you use two doors on the gift shop
