Weird XP on expedition
I don't really know how xp gage is working on expedition... Maybe I have a bug but I wanted to ask here before.

Sometimes I send staff, they win +(x) EXP and then, the gage up.
Sometimes, they win +(x) EXP and then, the gage down.

So, how does it work ? Ô_o Why sometimes up and sometimes down even if the game said that they win XP everytime ?
I send them with all in green on expedition and they came back with no problem at all. So I'm a little bit confused about that...

If they gain XP but the meter goes down that means they leveled up and the meter is just moving backwards instead of looping forward... yes, it's a weird thing to see.

In some cases however they do lose a bit of XP and I'm not sure what causes that.
I haven't paid attention to that yet but did they suffer any mishap along the way? Such as if there were "command choices" and you selected the wrong thing?

And if I am not mistaken, and probably will....sometimes something bad will happen because of some RNG percentage fail roll maybe which causes XP loss?
Have been wondering the same. It is a weird way of doing things, either that or it's another bug of many growing bugs I'm now finding out. Starting to think the game wasn't ready for release.
I have seen this, too, sometimes it looks like they are leveling up when it happens but frequently it just looks like they're losing XP somehow.
It's a bug, or possibly an unintended undersite. Instead of most RPG level up meters where the visuals fill all the way, this game doesn't do that and instead just adjusts itself to fit the bar.

No it's happening event if all went right. :/

But I'm reassured that I'm not the one who saw that. Maybe it's just a "graphic" bug because my employees still gain experience and levels.

Not really. Each employee has a level, they fill the gauge for each level and once it's full, it's emptied and they gain a level. All that's happening here is the game calculates the level they end up at, how much of the remaining XP is applied to that gauge and adjusts the current gauge up or down accordingly.
I mean they could fill, empty and refill the gauge for each level, but that would be an extra few seconds of animation and to be frank the exhibition summary screen wastes enough time with the stupid crate animation as is without having to sit watching a bar moving up and down.

I assumed this was the case as well, but no, I sent a level 5 person out and they were level 5 when they came back, but the bar went down instead of up. I don't know if it's a visual glitch or if their XP even changed, I didn't pay that close attention to it, but their level definitely did not go up.
It's a visual glitch. I haven't noticed any cases of XP actually decreasing.

IMO then, they should reduce/remove the stupid crate opening animation and make the experience bar more clear. Having to go to the top and throw confetti / play a noise, then start at 0 again and move up is much more informative and rewarding than an animation that has been used for every loot box open of every other game.

getting this too - i thought i was going mad watching the bar move backwards! Glad it's not just me!

This visual glitch was fixed in the beta build, so once that's live, it should hopefully work for everyone.

Thanks everyone, and sorry for the confusion! This is an issue with the XP level up animation, your staff members are levelling up rather than receiving negative XP.

As AirDoc has mentioned, this is one of the fixes in the public beta which we're hoping to publish to the general release branch as soon as we can!
