can you disable the robbers features
I find this feature really annoying. constantly getting messages that security have seen them, which I have to check as its just plain annoying when they steal something, they seem to come every 10 min or so which is way too often, I just want to focus on expeditions and laying out my museum it is an annoying interruption, I would love to just turn them off.

You can turn them off in sandbox mode
I put security chairs near the doors and set up a short hall from the doors into the main areas and have steady patrols in those halls to intercept fleeing criminals. I also set up a chair near restroom doors because apparently, some criminals will infiltrate in through the toilet.

Then I have the rest of my security wandering around collecting money from donation bins.

So far, so good.

Chairs by the door seems to work pretty good for me

I am not ready to move to sandbox mode yet but I was admit this feature annoyes me to the point that it puts me off playing.

short of hiring 100+ guards I dont know what to do I have chair at doors, cameras all over

If they just stole the item and I could buy it back every time I wouldn't mind so much as I would just buy it, but when they steal it and thats it you lose it, it frustrates me as it interrupts my game play having to go get that exhibit again or re-organising the space it was in.

I feel like almost need to turn my toilets into fort knox to protect from the guys that come from there
Build a wall in front of each exit and toilet, and put a security gate on the wall. Then put a security chair by each exit, and cameras throughout the museum. This will basically eliminate everything except the "mole" thieves, and they'll be a lot less painful, too.

But yeah, if I could turn this feature off, I probably would. It's awful.

FOR THE DEVS - the thieves should only ransom items that have socketed stuff. It's just absolutely devastating to loose something that took 8 trips to assemble. i'd sell a helipad to get back a friggin' exhibit sometimes... sheesh.
Or have them offer to sell the exhibit that was stolen back more often. Only had them offer this once and I have 11 security guards in my current museum.. they STILL suck at their job. I swear they go on break too much and don't use the chairs I have placed everywhere.

Also cameras are utterly useless, the tiny range and high cost makes them not worth it plus they have to be on walls and don't get me started on the range for the security room, lol.

I'm half tempted to just fire most of them and do it myself but I'm trying to dedicate my time to making the museum not look like a train wreck.

I swear the thieves are my only real gripe with this game. Loving the rest.

make sure you're upgrading your security cameras there's a improvement socket for that -
I think I should clarify.

I think ONLY: Fossil Prehistoric, Space, Plants, Haunted House Items - should have the ransom.

I think i'd be fine to steal the crafted exhibits, the borrowed art exhibits, the fish, and I think the highest "steal rate" should go to science exhibits. Those can be crafted again and it's a little less rage inducing.

Maybe if they just do like a "hard mode/theives/soft mode" - cause I like the mechanic but it's wayyyy to frustrating. definately is a slam the computer closed and walk away type mechanic... Maybe less if they make finding the stuff less tedious... which i think that's the huge elephant in the room. the expeditions are a bit tedious. a x1, x3, x5 expedition scaling reward commitment would be nice. where you get 1 box, 3 boxes, or 5 boxes depending the difficulty selected for the expedition that'd be great... that way late game if you screw up you can just pile staff back to that location and only have to do 3 or so trips to get enough boxes back to replace it.

I did consider this but part of the game is building a nice aesthetic that you like and it annoys me that I have to build security gates everywhere, especially around the toilets! I want to use all the cool archways but then double doors to have a security gate annoys me and looks lame!

yea I agree it is frustrating at the start, I will admit that nearly all of my museums are over 3 stars now and I have enough money that the price of cameras is nothing so I just place a billion cameras but its still frustrating, and I like to use walls for decorations so having to put up cameras all over

as for doing it yourself I find when I have 400+ in my museum even with the alert taking me directly to where they were spotted, I sometimes struggle to spot them in the crowds of people

I have some console up grades for range and alert (I think) which I install constantly, I noticed in my latest game play that I got a message saying none of my booths are upgraded but I have not seen anything for this, so not sure if there is something I am missing.

I am currently working on the museum with the robot janitors and going need mad trying to figure out what I have to do to stop them from being haywire I thought the message said I would get a perk but I have done several missions since and nothing, I also read that the haywire perk doesn't get installed properly so am interested to see how that works.
I use the zoning tool and create zones that I then assign two officers to each zone. This way when one goes on break one is covering. In smaller museums you can usually get away with 1 security per zone.

For security cam room make sure to have at lest two officers trained to use the rooms so you don't get down times when one goes on break. I will usually leave one set to do cams only on the job assignment tab and the second one as a floater not set to zone who covers for breaks and when not breaking he just wanders around doing other jobs like collect donations etc.

I nearly dont have anything stolen anymore. I just put a chair at the museum entry. And a camera at the entry and in front of every toilet entry. Then just a bunch of guards patrolling and you are pretty much set. Maybe outdoor cameras if you have exhibits outside. The only event you need to focus is the moles thieves. Just put game on slow and try to spot the tunnels.

For what it's worth the Developer has acknowledged this feedback and mentioned that adjustments are being looked at.

I just hope it's soon because the issue is quite a fun-killer. And it seems like the thievery system needs a complete overhaul not merely an adjustment in frequency, it's that far off from being a positive experience.
