Zappers refuse to breed?

Not sure if I'm doing something wrong, but I got two zappers in a nice big tank, all their bars are 100% full, plenty of room to expand, egg cup right in the middle... And nada. I've been stuck on this objective for an hour now. All my other fish are absolute horndogs, but these zappers just aren't feeling each other. Anyone got a fix?

Well I built them a new EVEN BIGGER tank and they finally got around to fornicating almost immediately. Weird.

the breeding fish have a 3 rank frequency.

nigiri is rank 3: like rabbits.

zapper is rank 2: not so often.

have yet to meet a rank 1: my sexlife.

I had to go the other way, had a giant tank, 6 zappers but enough room for triple that and nothing for hours (RL hours) so I built a new area away from all the other tanks, made small tanks enough for 2 zappers and 2 spaces for new ones if they ever decided to breed, logged out of the game entirely, logged in and sure enough within 30mins they all reproduced. I've now learnt they're mid-low farm chance (clicking the pot tells you the chance) but at the time I was getting frustrated with the wait xD

That's what had me messed up. The tiger sharks are rank 1 fertility and they were still breeding plenty.

It almost seems like it may be a bug? You and I both moved them into new tanks and they began to breed right after.

I was thinking the same thing however I'm also aware that I'm really impatient and maybe they were going to take that long anyway and it was just a coincidence xD

I have pots in every tank and there are other fish/creatures *cough*no spoilers*cough* that haven't even given me one yet and I have too many Zappers now so it could just take that long.

I had the same problem...after deleting the Egg Cup and placing a new one I had no issues.

I wouldn’t mind so much if I wasn’t sitting here with my proverbial thumb up my butt waiting on them so I can progress.

Edit: replaced the Egg Cup and restarted the game. One or both of those “fixed” it.

not sure about the fish rng, but i also experienced very weird timing on fish breeding. Both Zappers and Tiger sharks took ages to get the first baby, then they suddenly started mating kinda regularly. But i think i've been stuck waiting for the zappers to mate for almost 2 years

Now that I've had zappers for quite a while, their breeding seems to be very sporadic. They'll go months and months without breeding and then pop out several in a row before they get in a domestic squabble and ignore each other again or something.

I also moved mine to a larger tank and it did not trigger breeding.

I had this issue, and quitting and reloading seemed to fix it for me. Although it's meant to be a rarer chance for them to breed, I think something is just bugging out somewhere, and either reloading, replacing the egg cup, or moving them to a new tank seems to resolve it.
