Thieves suck and are annoying
Thieves rob the game of all its fun. There, I said it.

Yes, I also get so frustrated with the all thieves and vandals, and the security guards, I am hoping we can choose to have or not have thieves vandals in the campaign mode.

Click the pop up, zoom to the thief, pause, look for a security guard, physically move the guard to the thief, unpause, click on the fish again to figure out which one I wanted to sell, get another pop up for a thief, repeat, repeat, repeat.
I still think there’s a bug in your game. That shouldn’t be happening.

That would highly reduce the frustrating feeling.

After that... a button on the stolen exhibits to pay off a ransom immediately, so you don't have to wait on a slow random prompt, which you have no way as a new play of knowing can even exist.

The idea to make it so thieves don't steal museum artifacts is absurd. So many amazing movies capture this... no pun intended, issue, and it's not some petty cash theft or vandalizing.

I DO like the idea however, of simply paying a ransom... that way ehibits that took an insane amount of annoying grinding and repeat random hunting don't just dissapear with no recourse.

Serious rage-quitting concerns, that should be addressed!

Heist movies aside, does the thief mechanic add anything meaningful to the gaming experience here? I'd say no, it's just an annoyance that takes my focus away from the things I actually wanna do. I just hate it when I'm busy puzzling out something (like the energy cells/exhibit combos in the space museum) only to be interrupted by some yahoo trying to steal things. And then I have to abandon what I've been doing only to track down the thief, grab the nearest guard on him and hope they don't glitch out.

It's not enjoyable. I don't wanna have to do that because I don't like to be interrupted when I'm in the zone. If you like it, well, kudos to you. I'm not asking for the mechanic to be removed, nobody is. We would just like a toggle to switch it off entirely.
Sounds like this game fun is ruined because of this feature.
Or are there other players like me that just want to play games, but do not have much experience? This one sometimes gets too frustrating for me with the constant interruptions of the thieves, vandals, and problems with the security guards. For those who play a lot, it may be no big deal. But I play very few games. I have been searching for a game that wasn't too kiddish. I did not want violence either. Two point museum seemed to be a good answer. I did not know in Sandbox you could turn off the thieves. I dont think I have heard of Sandbox before. Otherwise, I would have started out with that mode. Now that I have 4 stars in most museums, the thought of constantly getting interrupted forever is a lot. But starting over in Sandbox is a lot too. So if given a choice in campaign of having/not having thieves and vandals, just seems like a solution since its already a choice in Sandbox.

Most of the people who are annoyed by the thief mechanic aren't asking for it to be removed, just for the option to toggle it off in campaign mode. I really don't see the problem with that if, as you say, games are different things to different people and that's okay.

I just wrote a clap-back using someone's own logic against them because I really hate elitists who think they are better because they can push pixels around a screen better than other people.

Just perfect a simple ransom system (or use an event-popup that lets you buy it back on the black-market), that way you aren't in major angst over a 10 hour grind that is lost (and probably make it toggle-able), it will still have purpose, but not rage-quit.

I don't even want to toggle it off, just freaking turn it down a little. I had 5 golden molers and 3 regular thieves at the same time. I had to quick buy two more security guards because I didn't have enough to capture them all at once. I don't get to actually play the game because it's just a 'catch the thief' simulator.

Nah, I still want to toggle it off because it's annoying. I've never lost a single exhibit yet and got my first museum to 5 stars yesterday. It's not difficult to deal with, just pause, look for thief, drop security guard on top of him, unpause, problem solved.

But this always happens when I'm busy dealing with other stuff and I just hate having to drop everything just to do this. It happens way too frequently and even if you have cameras everywhere and overstaff on guards, you still have to manually do this or risk losing exhibits because the game doesn't alert the closest guard automatically to deal with the thief. It chooses the next free one, even if they are at the other end of the building.

Until that is fixed, I'd really rather switch the whole thing off.
You could make it a perk system upgrade, or research-able, maybe even tier system to drop rate of theft because of a research-able museum policy or a specific security device.
I think one of the big problems with the thieves system is that the response the security AI makes is terrible. A lot of times a thief gets spotted, and then a security guard on the opposite end of the map gets sent after them while the three guards way closer by just don't care. It means that you have to pause the game on every popup a thief is spotted, 50/50 on whether they are already gotten by a security guard or get the guard on the opposite side of the map chasing after them.
Hey. Congrats to the person getting 5 stars on their first museum! I tried the other day for the mayors visit. Basically, I did not pass the test. So still trying.....And yes, are the security guards going to be reliable or not? that is always a question

Again All i am hearing in this thread is a bunch of people who cannot read in game text...and who want ♥♥♥♥ handed to them. GOD the games of the 90s would have DESTROYED you all.... Yes it does need SOME work but with the SMALLEST amount of micromanagement is not an issue. It is people who

1- Hire bad guards.,..Don't hire slow walkers... make sure you get peripheral vision on walkers.. make sure the guard at the door has the higher % chance to spot thieves...(in a chair)
2 Don't use camera rooms/cameras correctly and perk them right
3 Don't use security doorways at all (amazing leaving bathrooms) or just have a camera pointed at bathroom door...
4 Do not know how to set up zones in larger museums (needed for Molars)
5 only have one staff room so guards walk ages to rest/staffroom isn't tier 5
6 doesn't have employee only toilets....
7 doesn't TRAIN their guards properly

Also DEVS have already commented here that a good patch is coming to tweak current issues but you will STILL need to do these things if you want to be successful.

I do all of that and none of this helps with the issue of the game choosing the next free guard to act instead of just the closest one. This is not about difficulty, this is about an annoying mechanic that doesn't add anything of value to the experience for me, so I would like to switch it off entirely so I can play in peace.

Also, the games in the 90s were fine. IDK what you played, but I didn't have any trouble back then. Mayhaps thou art projecting a tad? Why does the idea of some people wanting to have a chill experience with the game upset you so much? What's it to you if people play a single player game differently? Why do you feel the need to insult people you don't know anything about?
