[Critical visual bug] Lighting issue
I have encountered a lighting issue affecting all maps in the game. A portion of all maps (the lower center) appears as if a bright spotlight was shining on it from the upper left side of the screen.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3454152741
This makes POI selection in that portion of the maps extremely difficult, you basically have to work blind because POIs in this area are virtually invisible under the light

I have rebooted my system, updated the drivers, the issue remains.

FYI I am running the game on an ASUS ROG Strix G713W laptop with an onboard Geforce RTX 3070 Ti Laptop GDDR6 with 8Gb 256 bits RAM

That's absolute insane. Have you tried adjusting the lighting settings in the video options? Specifically Bloom, HBAO and/or Lighting Quality?

You may also want to try forcing the game into using a specific version of direct x to see if it is better with either directx 11 or 12. To do that:

If that doesn't work, try the same thing except use "-force-d3d11" instead of d3d12. For me, the lighting is very different between the two modes.

Hey Griffu - Sorry you've had this bug!

We think that we have a fix for this and we are testing the patch now - I am hoping that I can put it on a beta today (and then full release later this week)

I will update once that's live,

Many thanks,
Jo

I haven't tried running under different dx versions but I did try changing my lighting settings. Hell, I tried changing just about everything in the graphics settings with no results.

I am also not hopeful regarding changing dx version since this bug just appeared out of nowhere, and actually only shows up when I'm playing on Memento Mile. If I change maps, the bug disappears, but as soon as I go back to memento mile, it reappears. That really doesn't look like a dx bug to me...

Nevertheless, even if changing dx versions DID fix this, it's not a solution, just a temporary fix. You cannot expect everyone to know how to do stuff like that.

@Jo : Please let me know in this thread once the update is up on beta so I may test wether it fixes the issue for me or not.

I've just put the build on to the beta branch - please see instructions here: https://steamcommunity.com/app/2185060/discussions/0/594018898545790229/

Let me know how you get on!
Just tested my save in beta, the issue appears to be fixed there
Of course, I can't be 100% sure since I don't know what caused the issue to appear in the first place so I can't fully reproduce it.

No, because the beta post notes saves created on the beta branch will not work on the current live build and I don't want to loose progress.

Hey lpablo,

It's correct that you can't play on the current live build if you've played that save on the beta build, but once the beta build is live, you'll be able to switch back to the "live" build/branch.

Alternatively, you could make a backup of your save folder before trying the beta branch to workaround this, should you wish to return after testing the beta build.

To back up your save. On PC , follow this file path: C:\Users\<username>\AppData\LocalLow\Two Point Studios\Two Point Museum\Cloud\XXXX (this folder is a series of numbers / your SteamID)\Saves On Mac its: ~/Library/Application Support/com.twopointstudios.twopointmuseum/Cloud/XXXX (this represents a folder that is a series of numbers which is your Steam ID) Copy the Saves folder and paste it somewhere safe, such as on your Desktop. Now you can try the beta knowing the original copy can still be retrieved.

Hope that helps!

Hi everyone,

This is an issue caused awkwardly by the placement of the Helipad. We're showing the world light sources in the Expedition menu.

We are working on a fix for this.

For those affected if you can move your Helipad to a new location, it can resolve the issue until we release an update addressing this.
Light effects
Suddenly all the lighting effects have become extremely bright — I can barely see the map. This only happens with this game. Is this a bug or due to an update?

Thanks Chris - as of 21st April it seems to have fixed itself... or maybe i moved my helipad!? thanks.
