Sorry to hear you've had a crash! You should have back up save files, you can see how to find them here: https://steamcommunity.com/app/2185060/discussions/1/594016102539903117/
If you wouldn't mind as well, it would be great if you could share your logs/crash info with us so we can see why it happened
If you are using windows, you can find it here; C:\Users\[Username]\AppData\LocalLow\Two Point Studios\ (type %APPDATA% in to file explorer and press enter)
If you zip it up and email support@twopointstudios.com :)
I also wanted to mention that we are currently working on a way to access back up saves from within the game if a save becomes corrupt.
Many thanks,
Jo
I straight up don't have that file path, which is super confusing.
The best I can get if I search up 'Two Point Museum' is C:\Users\Razorback\Documents\Two Point Museum. And that just has a bunch of files called '2185061_depotcache_1.csd', etc, which I can't make sense of based on what I'm instructed to do to fix it.
Once I get to C:\Users\[Username], theres no 'AppData'.
Absolute magic - Two Point Museum people, add this to your repertoire of advice for struggling users for sure! Now I'm seeing all the save file data, and I can continue with the other fix that has been suggested.
Thank you all so much!
Thank you, thank you! My active slot game became corrupted. I used this info to restore my game file.
The trouble appeared first as the Career file being corrupted. I noted from the crash log's text the time at which the crash occurred, then renamed the .bak file from before that time, to be the current one.
After I did that and loaded in, my Level had reset as well (from the corruption of the Career file, I assume). So I did the same with the level file as I did with the career file.
And Yayy! I got my museum, my stars, my everything back. So thank you very much for providing the excellent troubleshooting and repair instructions that you have.
You. Are. Awesome.
