Staff use cafeteria and vending machines?
When building staff rooms, vending machines pop up as some of the things to place in there. Also, I saw some videos of people's staffs dining at the cafeteria.

I tried placing some vending machines in my staff rooms but the staffs won't use it, even if there isn't a food table or water fountain nearby. I still haven't unlocked the cafeteria to test that out.

Do staffs use vending machines and cafeteria? If so, do I have to do something for them to use it?

Yes, they do. Some of your employees even come with traits that grants them bonus happiness when they eat junkfood or buy drinks from vending machines. Not sure though if they also receive a buff when they've eaten at the café as others do.

With cafés you can actually configure the room whether it serves visitors, staff or both of them. If your staff uses the café they will just pay as much as regular users do and also receive buffs for good service and being fully fed and the like. IMO a café is therefore superior to any vending machines, which in my experience just add to much garbage besides needing regular refilling.

I recommend not having staff rooms and vending machines at all as soon as you can build a cafeteria.
They do, and I feel bad. I give my staff free food and drinks in their staff room, they shouldn't have to pay for their meals. :steamsad:

I give my staff free food and drink, too. I also put vending machines in staff only areas, for the Junk Foodies. I just like them having choices more than I like playing the meta game.

Except you still need them for the first aid box. I wish that wasn't a requirement to complete the staff room. Because it only needs to be in a staff room that's closest to the helipad, but no you have to have one in every single staff room so getting injured on an expedition causes your employees to often choose the furthest first aid box away.

For the OP, i have seen them use the cafeteria but not that often, even if it's the Only option. Also if it is the only option where do the staff who actually work in the cafeteria drink and eat is why i never leave it as the only option. Even food junkies won't always target a vending machine for food even if it's the only option in my experience.

thanks a lot for the information! Any idea why my staff might be ignoring the vending machines?

So maybe I'm just out of luck that they decided not to use those things?
Not sure what you're asking, i'm saying in my experience they don't always use vending machines and/or cafeterias even if they are available. They will always use the staff room buffet table and water and coffee facilities but not necessarily vending and cafeterias, but they will, sometimes.

I see. I guess that answers my question, thanks. It's just that I experimented in some different ways but I've never managed to see a staff using a vending machine, but maybe it's just bad luck or something like that. Thanks :)

You don't need a first aid box. Injuries are the easiest to avoid hazard. I certainly don't need one.

''I don't need one so nobody else does''. I see. You can only use one item per expedition, some injuries require you use the first aid kit as the only means to avoid it, i'd rather use the resource scanner or the boost to xp and just have them heal in a repair box. It isn't about not being able to avoid them.

So you choose to need one. That's completely fine.
Once you can make the science contraption that heals injuries and illnesses, you truly don't need a staff room even if you do get injuries.

In my game they simply will not use the bandage box if I have a Douse n' Dose exhibit. I can't even force them to use a bandage box...even if I drop an injured staff on the bandage box, they will go to the Douse n' Dose no matter how far away it is.

You're bashing on him, but I don't think you have been super far into the game yet...because there are POI's where injuries cannot be countered unless you bring along a first aid kit, including one where you can't cancel an MIA if you do bring along a first aid kit. I imagine almost every player chooses not to counter the injury...it seems smarter than not countering MIA, to me.

I agree with you 100%. Especially the scanner one...If it's a new POI, I'm going to use the survey scanner and take the injury, every time.
