Unattractive Environment Icon
Why is the unattractive environment icon a picture and smiley face? It seems like they're happy with the environment, not unhappy. But the text says unattractive. It makes me wonder if it's the text or the icon that is backwards. If it's truly unattractive, a sad or annoyed face would make so much more sense.

Smiley face is backwards.
Can see correct debuff text in red when klicking on person.

Bit hard to find areas with low Enviroment, in Overlay it only shows exhibits/rooms/objects.
But on empty areas it does not show anything, yet they seem to cause the debuff.
Often this is caused by rubbish rather than low decor,. Visitor moodlet persists a while even after its swept up, which can complicate things. And for those cursed with the Passwater Cove map,, puddles count as 'rubbish' and are both much harder to spot and dropped much more regularly by the hateful marine enthusiast visitors, who essentially make it impossible to keep the place clean.
It does mean they are unhappy with the environment.

I agree that it’s confusing. I think the idea is that the icons show you what the person wants. It’s clearer that a person who is hungry is thinking about pizza, and someone who needs the toilet is thinking about toilets (represented by paper in this case).

In this case the person is thinking about “decorations that make a person happy” which is a lot more abstract, but also not entirely instructive as—like other have described—this can be caused by litter and dirtiness (puddles, sludge, vomit, etc).

If it is only related to decoration it makes sense, as you described.
Symbols always show what persons want/need.

But if it is also triggered by trash/pollution (which I'm not sure it is), it makes not as much sense. Then it should show a broom or mop.
Sounds to me like you need more EYE LASERS!

Not actually kidding. One of the custom contraptions zaps their eyes with lasers to trick them into thinking they are in perfect environment. The one with a buzz aura uses mind control gas.
I wish the icon was of what they saw, instead. I never know if they saw litter, or a puddle, or something vandalized. So I have to pause the game, zoom in, and try to search the floor manually to see if I can find anything, anywhere that might have caused the issue.

It occurs to me that maybe this icon is a hold over the design phase, that doesn’t match how the game actually works. While decorating makes people happier, I can’t recall guests or staff actually being debuffed by not having decorations, only by dirtiness. Maybe the icon needs to be revised to reflect that, or unattractive environment be split between decoration and dirtiness and the latter have a separate icon.

I also misinterpreted this to mean "This patron is really happy about the decor." Reading this, it seems they are actually unhappy because the place is dirty? Very confusing, but it kind of makes sense now. Yet it's still not obvious this could also mean poor cleanliness. I think that should be separate from decor.
