Update 29th April:

I've updated the beta branch with some updates that we hope will fix the behaviour issues that some of you were reporting! Please let us know any feedback :)

Thank you for your patience, and we're sorry this is taking so long!

We're preparing for our first big (ish) update and we are now ready to put this build on to our beta branch. There are some bugs that we are still fixing and testing is on-going, but we wanted to give players the opportunity to try it out ahead of the full release.

To access the beta branch follow the steps below:
1. Right-click Two Point Museum in your game library and select Properties (if you have Steam running, you may need to log out and in again)
2. Select the BETAS tab.
3. Choose public_beta from the drop-down menu.
4. The build will start downloading (The build number is 2.0.179249)

Please note that saves created on the beta branch will not work on the current live build. We recommend you take a backup of your save files if you might want to switch back to the live build. As soon as we push this fix out to the live build, you will be able to come of the patch beta branch :)

  • New Floors and Walls!
  • Microwave (Staff Room)
  • Staff who use the microwave will feel fuller for longer, increasing the time it takes to become hungry again
  • Staff Desk (Staff Room)
  • Staff members gain a small amount of XP while interacting with it
  • 360° Security Camera (This camera can be placed anywhere and slowly rotates back and forth on a 360° turning circle)

Staff Traits
  • Jammy - Immune to MIA events
  • Shatterproof - Immune to injuries
  • Antibacterial - Immune to illnesses
  • Child Friendly - Increases entertainment of nearby children
  • Child Unfriendly - Reduces entertainment of nearby children
  • Handy (Janitor) - Improves maintenance, workshop and perk installation speeds
  • Lard Lad/Lass - Eating doughnuts increases happiness!
  • Sunny - Increases Happiness (+5%)
  • Stormy - Decreases Happiness (-5%)
  • Dinner Lord/Lady - Cafeteria work increases happiness
  • Tunnel Vision (Security Guard) - Narrow field of view for security
  • Slacker - Takes longer breaks
  • Half-Wit - Impairs training speed (-25%)
  • Vomino - Sick at the sight of sick

Sandbox Improvements
  • All popup challenge locations are now available to be used in sandbox mode
  • Enable/disable Curator Class (this allows you to freely work in one museum without being encouraged to move to other locations)
  • Unlock/lock all Kudosh items
  • Unlock/lock all Enlightenment items
  • Unlock/lock Custom Contraption workshop projects

Updated

Security Improvements
  • Molar thieves will now always try to steal exhibits that are further away from their mole hill. They will only steal nearby exhibits if there are no other exhibits to steal.
  • Thieves no longer run away when spotted by a camera
  • Thieves now move slower when escaping with an exhibit or after vandalising an item
  • The “Thief Escaped” advisor message no longer appears if the criminal escapes without stealing or vandalising anything
  • Outdoor security camera can now be placed indoors

Exhibit Discovery Improvements
  • An exhibit’s stats tab and its stickerbook entry now display which POIs the exhibit has been found at
  • Significantly increased the chance of receiving a Pristine exhibit when the POI is at max Survey Level
  • Max Survey Level expeditions can now never receive an average quality exhibit
  • Increased the survey progress for Safe and Detailed expeditions from +5 to +10 and +15 to +20
  • Improved the drop rate weighting on particularly frustrating POIs

Everything Else:
  • Upgraded Unity Engine
  • Exhibit Analysis has been rebalanced so that it now rewards XP based on the quality and not the time-taken. It will also reward an XP boost at the end of the analysis. This change is intended to boost Analysis traits and qualifications, as they were previously reducing the amount of XP staff could gain from analysis.
  • Significant pass on all exhibit and item bound boxes and colliders
  • All perks now appear in the perk installation list and are greyed out with additional information if they aren’t applicable to the current item
  • The exhibit reveal screen now also shows the exhibit’s traits
  • A staff member’s current action, their traits and XP are now visible in the training menu
  • Added a new “Security” filter to the items tab to help navigation to security-specific items
  • Removed white background for decoration visualisation mode
  • Added a MIA inbox message which provides details on where and how the staff member went MIA
  • Improved job selection for when an item goes on fire
  • Experts who spawn from the Frozen Fridge are now given a frozen-related trait
  • Fixed issues where certain exhibits were only getting one trait (e.g the Boa Conductor was only ever receiving the “Boring” trait)
  • Added a larger button to the edit building inspector to improve messaging
  • Improved the messaging for Fish and Spirit Buzz Bonuses so that it’s clearer what they do/don’t like in their aquarium or room
  • Added a trait to the Lagoonean Creature to message that it can’t be bred
  • Increased the amount of XP gained from workshop projects
  • Rebalanced the Mayor’s final inspection in Momento Mile so that you can never fail if she’s provided no cons
  • Increased the amount of decoration that can be used in the Cafe and Gift Shop
  • Improved colour consistency of font in text boxes and inspectors
  • Panoptic Pillar is now much less likely to be stolen
  • Added a “Museum Utilities” filter to the aquarium item’s list to improve messaging
  • Fixed bright lights occasionally seen on maps
  • Fixed bug where deleting part of a partition wall causes issues with wall papering
  • Mac: Fixed Steam overlay not working on Mac
  • Double prestige of the golden toilet
  • Fixed cases of Curator objectives becoming out of sync
  • Updated objective in Coastal level Act 3 to be a cumulative goal "Guests (25) with 750 Buzz"
  • Swapping the Spectral Rift Event for a Cursed event and changed the counter from Analysis to Ghost Whisperer. This is as Unique spirits should always be pristine and Spectral rift event gives -1 Exhibit quality.
  • Fixed issue where exiting to Museum Map from a sandbox save causes camera to snap to the center of the Museum Map
  • Ceiling and wall decoration items are now allowed in the Cafe
  • Fixed procedural walls not selling when removing parts of buildings they're on.
  • Fixed bug where sometimes it was possible for MIA to happen on staff who have the MIA immunity trait
  • All Café food options are now available in Sandbox
  • Updated "Globetrotter" to provide happiness boost after doing an expedition
  • Sticker Book - Save/Load appears to re-count sticker book objectives based on what's in the level
  • Fixed bug where marketing campaigns were not being tallied properly in the finance screen

  • Increase the chances of finding the Cave Ghosts in Withering Way
  • Ancient Altar now only changes name to Ancient Anatomic Fabricator once activated
  • Fixed a bug which meant that security guards weren't received XP when removing thieves
  • Fixed a bug where the tooltips in the sticker book objectives were not updating
  • Fixed cases of wall items becoming invalid in 2.0

All of this is so great! I was really wishing for some more floor and wall options, very excited to see what's coming up. :)

Well performance is up, i'm back at 60 fps on a museum that was chugging 30-40 fps. But perks installed do not work, atleast some of them. I just put a entertainment + buzz perk (dual perk) on Atlantean armour and it has the exact same buzz rating as the one next to it with zero perks installed. Both are Pristine and maxed out deco and buzz bonus activated.

And i think i know the security issue above... you can put wide angle perks and high alert perks in things like food dispensers in Aquariums. These should only be for security booths unless i am missing something. I figure perks are glitching out that are installed in water pumps/food dispensers (and maybe other things) and causing the security screen overlay problem. I'm not actually having that issue myself, just an idea. For clarity, i didn't attempt to install the wide angle/high alert perks, but it does show that they can be, they aren't greyed out.

Installed perks do not raise the values on the exhibits, they raise the amount gained by visitors who interact with the exhibit. i.e. you can see the perk impact by looking at the visitors, not the values displayed on the exhibits.

That's the case with the current game, not just the beta.

Nooo! I figured this might get changed but I'm still sad about it. I think everyone really liked this "bug." Hopefully we can get more money from other kinds of guests to compensate for this loss, since I always feel like I'm tight on money even with sponsorships.

No they don't. Not from installed perks.

You're probably just comparing two exhibits that don't have identical "buzz bonus" values, which is a thing. It's not the buzz bonus perk causing any difference. You can see the break-out if you hover over the exhibits buzz value. Perk bonuses are not included.

My personal Beta Feedback. I have only played and tested until first star in Memento Mile:

1) Sound problems, especially when pause the game and then no helicopter sounds, music or radio for a longer time

2) I have made 12 detailed expeditions to Greasy Fields and I have collected 7 Pristine Exhibits, so this was improved by a lot (detailed expedition gives now 20 % survey level)

3) Explorer Trunk (Explorer Edition) will be used by staff now, was bugged before

4) I have collected 2 Boa Conducter Skeletons with traits Intriguing and the other one with Amusing :) There is only a small bug I would say after you collected your first piece it shows you the trait for your Boa, and it can happen that the second piece has another trait when you open the crate and see the animation with the loot box, but the first piece-trait counts. Would be nice if this gets fixed.

5) The event Helicopter Damage can not be countered anymore with the Perk Pilot Wings (Bug)

6) Golden Toilets Decoration Buff now higher than normal ones, but note this includes not Golden Sinks or Hand Driers.

7) Trait Globetrotter increases Happiness now after Expedition, was bugged before. In my personal opinion the Buff is a little bit to short, this includes for example also traits with increasing Happiness for using Vending Machines or Coffee Drinking. I think they should be a little bit longer to make it more meaningful.

8) New Staff Desk in the Staff Room tested, small XP-Gain feels ok so far.

9) New Microwave in the Staff room tested, nice Buff for around 45 days not getting hungry after interacting with it, feels pretty good.

10) At the moment there are no Buffs for staff/guests after drinking Coffee for Movement Speed.

11) I have put down 3 Sonic Claw Machines in a row, they will be all used now by guests :)

12) Advertising for experts lags like crazy when you click on the button after a while in game. This was also a problem before. A short Restart to Main Menu fixes it for a while.

13) Trait Lard Lad (Doughnuts increase Happiness 10 %): It is a lot more than 10 %, feels like 25-30 % Happiness Boost for a really short time period.

14) XP-Gain from Workshop Projects not balanced:
-Sonic Claw Machine: 120 XP for 15 days
-Realisation Station: 25 XP for 18 days
-Prehistory Playground: 40 XP for 30 days
-Troll Grab Game: 120 XP for 45 days

15) Trait Dinner Lord/Lady: Have not tested it by myself, but 50 % Happiness increase for Cafeteria Work feels a little bit over the top. Maybe someone can give feedback to it.

16) My personal wish: Give staff members a little Buff when they are around 90-100 % Happiness, to make it meaningful in the game to increase Happiness of staff members.

Beta bug: Employees are ignoring their needs, specifically using the restroom. They wander around with the toilet paper icon over their heads, ignore multiple restrooms staggering around but not getting anywhere. I can manually pick them up and put them in the restroom, otherwise they are ignoring it. (I have multiple restrooms, including a staff only one.

Bug: One time, the trait Nimble said "Decreased movement speed".

Also, the light in the game seems to bug out for me (in the non-beta version also). The light is either very bright in some places - which fixes itself if I go to the main menu. Or very dark in certain places (seen in the Supernatural museum), no fix.

Something very small but something that doesn't read at all well to me. The unlock requirement for "Carrion trail"

"Display 1 different complete dinosaur bones" reads like a bit of a fumble.

Shouldn't it be "Display 1 completed dinosaur exhibit"

Another thing I found was that the new Staff traits are kind of broken and or not working creatively. Here's an example of a staff member in game.

Name: Jurassica Rancid
Level: 1
Job type: Prehistory expert
Staff traits: Sunny [increase happiness +5%] Stormy [Decreases happiness -5%]

This can't be as intended, right? Like I would've expected one of those to appear on a staff member but not both, cause what's the point?

Follow up on the visual bug I reported earlier

The bug appeared to be fixed in beta but has reared it's head once again, albeit in a more limited fashion. In live, the bug appeared while playing Memento Mile Map and affected the local POI map and the world map.

Also, the visitor count for Showcase Exhibit stickers was apparently working and for some reason, all values were reset to 0 for stickers that weren't yet completed.

Hi Everyone - Everyone who's had issues with staff behaviours (or... any other behaviour issues) could you please send in your save to support@twopointstudios.com so that we can check the cause?

If you are using windows, you can find it here; C:\Users\[Username]\AppData\LocalLow\Two Point Studios\ (type %APPDATA% in to file explorer and press enter)

If you zip it up and email with a short description of the bug and a link to this thread, we should have everything we need.
