Issues balancing funds vs staff salary
i'm hoping some people can help me out and give me some good advice as to what i'm doing wrong or how to fix my overall situation.

I started the campaign and spent a long time getting pristine pieces out of the beginners area and ignored the quests it wanted me to do for a good while. I finally started doing the quests/missions until i got to the point of the game wanting to send me to a different museum.

The difficulty i'm running into is my original museum is starting to run towards the red because i seem to need a lot of janitors and my staff wages keep soaking up my profits.

how can I tell if i have too many staff of any type to see if that's the issue? how do you keep ahead of the salary curve to be able to have high level employees?

i'm not sure what i'm missing and would love any advice people could give me so i can continue enjoying the game

Sponsors, the Gift shop and the cafeteria make a lot money for you.

The way the campaign is set up is for you to bounce around the locations as you progress. You may need to move to the next location to obtain the items / mechanics you need to grow the first location again.

Rest assured, the second location will ask you to return to the first location eventually.

You can't beat/complete a level before you move on.
I found the biggest moneymaker for me was to pay attention to what the visitor goal for different types of guests for a perfect visit is. They tend to be very generous if you can meet their goal and donations get big. Professors have no interest in buzz and pay based on knowledge. Goth's tend to want to be turned into a vampire. If you can meet those goals with your exhibits it really helps raise money.

Kids tend to want 5 interactive exhibits, so once you've unlocked that many and put them out, kids start putting $10,003 in the donation bin after their 5th interactive display and money stops being a problem.
just hire loyal staff, youll save thousands as they promote making it easier to expand and get that initial base of money
Open all employees tab -> sort column after Status -> if a lot of the same type show "Available" you have too much of its kind and can fire some - you should have some spares so they have a chance to rest
The levels do balance out but you have to do the quests or your flushing money literally down the toilet as you cant get stars unless you do the quests . Gift shops,Cafeterias,Tours and sponsors help pull more money in . Use bank loans and dont be afraid to take the next loan up if your still struggling . Just make sure you pay back anything from the original loan before you go blowing money . If you start bleeding cash hit Pause and figure out why the money is vanishing . You may need to halt marketing or suspend sending out expeditions so you dont have large wedges of cash vanishing . The campaign will literally take you museum to museum as you do the quests . Unlock as you go . Once you finish each museums set of quests theres plenty of time to play and finesse for those last few stars . You really dont need to max each one before you move on .

Some money tips I've come across:

* The game seems to endlessly prompt that you need janitors, but you can get by with just a couple for a while. Just put 2 bins near any vending machine, and if you start to see litter lingering on the floor, then add one.
* Hire "Loyal" employees wherever possible. Use Pay Review and only give the raises they're asking for, until you're making a lot more money.
* Don't rush to train people, especially early on. Wait until they have the 'wants training' mood or you need them to have a certain skill to do a task.
* Build a fully loaded gift shop asap, then get the Cheesy Gubbins plushie stand (sponsorship). Get 2 assistants (two cash registers) as soon as you can afford them, so the gift shop never closes.
* Track budget and dial up prices gradually to "Fair Value" especially gift shop items.
* Build 5 different interactive displays in every museum, once you've unlocked them. This will satisfy kids' dream goal, and they'll drop 10,002 into the donation bins. This one takes some investment. I've been building an exhibit area and just putting most of the interactives in there, and surround it with donation bins. (Credit to Pinstar on YT)
* Once you can afford a cafeteria, build one w/at least 3 family tables, and remove all but 1-2 of your vending machines. Or only put out drink machines but not food machines, to push guests to the cafe. they'll pay 150/meal instead of 6, so kind of a huge win. You'll need 1-2 more assistants to support it, but still worthwhile.

For the gold quest museums, take a 100k loan. It doesn't last long enough that loan repayments will be a problem.
