Cannot launch game
The only thing that happens is I get a little pop up window for a brief second with the TPM logo, at the top it says Unity 6000.0.17f1_95e1b8cf7a6b

It starts loading the bar and immediately shuts down with no other info.

Might have to get a refund but I really wanna play this!

I already tried restarting computer, verifying files, uninstall/reinstall , shutting off anti-virus and even tried launching as admin, no luck still....
I seem to be having a similar issue. It starts the game, then flashes up a small screen, too fast to read, and then shuts down.
A bunch of screenshots later and I can just see a faded view as that pop up error window disappears. Says the same thing as yours.
3 attempts with a total of 1m gameplay ( which ends before the games menu appears rofl )

Hiya, sorry for the hassle, sometimes it takes a little while for Steam to refresh it's memory

Please try closing Steam from task manager and waiting for 20s or so before restarting, alternatively please try restarting your entire PC/Deck/laptop

Another possibility is to go to Steam -> Settings -> Downloads and clear your download cache, then restart Steam

You can also try verifying integrity of files (Right Click game in library -> Properties -> Installed Files)
1 - Restarted Steam ( already did this before coming here to see if others had the problem )
2 - Checked Video Card Drivers - up to date
3 - Checked requirements - meet recommended
4 - Restarted the Computer - done
5 - Clearing Cache - just done
6 - Verifying Files - It said 1 file failed and would be got again .. fingers crossed.

As a side note in case it is a factor, I have unity installed for my own programming use.

Verifying files worked .. I just hope it didn't replace a development version of a unity file with a non development version :crosses fingers:.

Ok this could be the issue because I also have Unity on my computer.

Although I did fix it! Right click the game, go to properties and type in -dx11 in the advanced settings box. Seems to be an issue between dx12/unity

Try the -dx11 thing I just posted, Let me know if it works for either of you!

Hey - the team have asked if you could please send your dxdiag folder to support@twopointstudios.com? That way they can take a look and make sure everything is OK!
DXDiag sent to email - added steps taken to resolve issue and the fact I have Unity installed as well.
Ugh, New patch stopped my game from working when i force it to use dx11, cant play at all again, sending over my dxdiag

Am experiencing the same issue since Hotfix Patch 1.2.176857 was dropped.
The -dx11 workaround doesn't work for me either. Nor did I had to use it previously.
Hoping for a quick fix.
Same problem here.
I can play the game before it launches. ( I buy Explorer Edition).
but now it cannot.

I was able to make this work by checking the file integrity in Steam under TPM -> Properties -> Installed Files.

Steam then told me that 2 files were not correct and were being redownloaded. This fixed it.

If needed, before these steps I cleared the download cache in Steam under Settings. Try that as well in case the above does not work.
you can check the game's log files here: %USERNAME%\AppData\LocalLow\Two Point Studios\Two Point Museum
Not sure if these will tell you whats wrong but its worth checking in any case.

There are 3 types of log files there, a player log, a game log in the logs folder, and a crashreports folder with files that can be opened in notepad.

Hey,

If having issues after a patch on Steam generally what chowder suggests fixes it:

1. Load Steam
2. From the Library section, right-click on the game and select Properties from the menu.
3. Select the Local files tab and click the ‘VERIFY INTEGRITY OF GAME FILES…’ button.
4. Steam will verify the game's files - this process may take several minutes.
5. Once the process is completed, the Check Window will automatically exit.
6. We recommend verifying your cache twice to make sure all files are fully downloaded.

Let me knowhow you get on, I will keep an eye on this thread,

Many thanks,
Jo
