A lot of grind
At first the game looks great, like the old ones, but the more you play the more understand that grind with lootboxes become ridiculously teditious, you have send ship time after time to roll what you want or needed for a star. Its not fun

I personally dislike the expedition, I dislike it in Anno and in Frostpunk as well.
This is boring and not really any decision making involved, everyone will eventually use all destinations, it makes no difference because no one can skip anything.
The chest opening is ok for the first 10 times, I think they need to improve it or let us able to skip it, tbh the graphic and animation is very average and I have to see it in full screen for over 10 times its too much, I do not know if there are any variation later on but during my first 7 hours gameplay they look all the same.
I enjoy the concept of the expeditions, but I think there should be a gamble system involved where if you want to roll like 3 expeditions at once, there's a higher chance for more of those pop up windows with decisions that impact if you get double, tripple or single return on your costly expidition. Right now it feels more or less 1 for 1, and it's very slow that way. It also feels TERRIBLE getting one stolen - and now at the final end of the game; it's just a pain to get all of the guards hired. I'm buying more guards than i am decorations and it's like... I really enjoyed the decoration and theming aspect. the security... they really need to add something to like swat team the bathrooms or something cause i literally had 3 fossils super rare 6 expedition to assemble each just stolen off my screen on one of the big maps... it's just like.. i just spent the last hour setting all this up only for it to be gone... and at lvl1 and such i got ransom letters to buy the stuff back but for some reason the aquarium theaves just seem to steal it and never return which... seems like a bug. I thought the steal ransom loop made way more sense. Cause it's just like; bugger there goes 100,000 dollars... loosing money is way less painfull than loosing 6 expeditions and 3 perks... x3 times within 4 minutes.
I think it's fun when it works, but getting the same Great/Average piece 20 times in a row just sucks. Definitely needs to increase find chances for each time you don't find something

There's a number of skills and tools which will boost the quality of finds, IIRC you also get a boost the higher your survey rate is. I can't remember the last time I got anything less than Epic with my expedition team for Memento Mile.
To be fair though it's kind of pointless unless there's a campaign goal that wants a specific rarity (or needs you to apply an upgrade). For most purposes it's the quantity of exhibits rather than the quality of them that makes the difference.

I personally haven't found it grindy at all. You have to do a few repeat things, sure, but mostly if you just focus on decoration and following the goals set by the "tutorial", you breeze through it.

Huh? Which single item has you doing that many expeditions?
Anything with "rarely seen" in an area with "commonly seen" drops. Fossil star for example, a lot of people are getting 150+ expeditions in and only ever seeing 3-4, usually average/great quality at best

Ah i see , that does suck. Did not try to get pristine of those yet so that is probably why I have not encountered this problem. But other ones seem to be fine , cannot recall one taking so many to get a pristine version of it. Are there others that do this?

Yeah , the rarity does give extra perk slots....but those for the most part are quite lack luster to be honest. I rarely even throw a perk on exhibits , all my musuems are in positive cash flow. Though I am still working towards 3 star them , so maybe later it matters to have pristine and the right perks on them?

the problem in my experience is that everything is finished and i just fish for items. or everything is finished and you need to upgrade exhibits to improve cash flow.

it started to become tedious for me once there was no real decision making in which places to go next. then you just spam expedition, ff, open box, repeat. tbh on the ghost museum i had a brain malfunction and didnt see the unlocked second space, so maybe i would have been busier. i was just trying to get the legendary spirit to max buzz. that said the whole process is too many clicks for a repeat action. imho the reward popup should open the box and skip the animation and its fine. maybe make it 2 buttons go there/grab item.

also i took an hour to get a guy to survival 2 because the anti hell event item didnt work for the relevant mission.
