what is the point of fences?

So i dont understand the point of them. If you fence off an area and put an exhibit in there you get complained at that people cant get close to them? But isnt the point of the fences to protect the exhibits from people? Otherwise whats the point of them?

I took it as something to direct the flow of guests rather than block. Like making sure they pass the gift shop or some grabber machines.

To guide the guests from expedition to expedition in a certain order, if you chose to do so. You can also utilize the one-way doors to this effect.

Personally, I also think it looks better with ropes.
