So far I have found no downside in doing so.
In order to unlock certain anomalies you need to have at least two base symbol exhibits present. So the game actually wants you to have multiple in such case anyways.
But in general I think buzz here wins, at least for those mission points where you have to reach a certain buzz before being allowed to progress further.
I've never seen any complaints or debuffs for multiples of the same one, but I've also never placed more than 2 or 3 of the same type, so far.
My suggestion is to spread them out so it doesn't turn into an eyesore,
get exhibits that looks better with groups like "Space Scooter" it'll make the exhibit like an actual scooter display or small plants so you can make a nice garden,
or focus on ghosts especially the human ghosts since their bigger varieties and need is much less of an eyesore and better challenge for fun but of course it would mean turning all your museum into supernatural one,
Also make sure to double check your huge exhibits or similar exhibit doesn't have negative traits like "boring" or spirit related curses. Since it is also a factor other than just rarities. A pristine exhibit could have negative trait as well
I assumed that might be the case, but didn't have any good, easy way to test it as @GhostWolve mentioned. I appreciate your response.

I really love these kind of details from mechanics in the game, thanks for sharing :)
Now I'm wondering if it also applies to fish and/or spirits. I've never kept more than 4 or 5 of the same type of fish so far. I'll have to test that when I'm back in one of my museums that has aquariums.
