Can anyone explain the 2nd and 6th Company of the Ultramarines?
I mean in game. Isn't Titus and Acheran from the 2nd Company; and yet Titus is working with Chairon and Asian Ultramarine from the 6th? So what gives?

So... Acheran is the overall commander of the 2nd and 6th in the theatre?

Why mix members from diff. companies tho? 🤔

Perhaps Scottish Ultramarine Captain figured the 6th could use someone with huge experience in Titus?

Or maybe the 2nd doesn't trust Titus enough? If this is the case tho, shouldn't Titus be wholly transferred to the 6th instead?

Thoughts thoughts?

in the lore 1st comp are old veteran, 2-5 veteran, 6-10 rookie.
so the chapter master can decide to mix rookie and veteran for various reasons, like help rookie to learn from veteran and survive. or help him integrate, or simply have different skill/stuff depending of companies

1st Company got wiped out during the Tyranid invasion of Maccrage, so 2nd Company is the top company now, I think.

Space Marines chapters are organized in 10 Companies

The 1st company is comprised of Officers and Veterans, all high ranking personel with years and years of Terrain Experience, ALL of them bears the Crux Terminatus, wich is said to have a small fragement of the God-Emperor's armor in it.

2nd to 5th Companies are combat companies, they are Always ready to be sent to the frontlines on a moments notice and are comprised of a varied amount of units.

6th to 9th Companies are reserves companies, they are all comprised of the same types of Units, and those units are then dispatched with the Battle Companies.

Typicly 6th & 7th Companies are made of Battleline squads (Tactical squads, Intercessors, and Vanguards)

While the 8th Co, is entirely made out of Closeline squads: Assault Marines, Inceptor, Bikes squadrons, Centurions.

9Th COmpany is comprised of Firesupport: Devastator, Hellblasters, Suppressors etc

10th Company is the Scouts company, wich is exclusively made off new Marines Aspirants, Recruits that have had almost all of their Gene-Implants, but are still in the final stages of their Training, they get 1st hand experience on the terrain and use guerrila tactics and are used for stealths and recon missions.

So a Space Marines battle force will have Squads from the 2th to 5th Company as a backbone with units from the Other companies supporting them.

If a SM army has like 3 tactical squads, 2 Assault squads, 1 biker squadron and 2 Devastators squads, it would mean that this force is comprised of units from the 2th, the 6th, the 8th and 9th Companies

The whole Supported by vehicles/heavy equipement from the CHapter's Armory, like Rhinos, Razorbacks, Stormraven gunships, Landspeeders.

And while part of the armoury, Every Company has its own sets of Dreadnoughts, with the most ancient and Venerable being Part of the 1st Company.

Now this is the organisation of a "Codex-compliant" Chapter.

Not all Chapters are Codex compliants.

For example the Black Templars are an infamous Non-Codex CHapter, as they are well above 1000 battle brothers strong and doesn't really operate in terms of Companies.

BT's have found a loophole in the Codex, wich says that the Maximum amount of Battle Brothers in a Chapter is 1000 UNLESS they are in a state of Crusade, then the maximum limit is ignored for the Purpose of the Crusade.

SO BT's are on a constant Crusade, not having any Planets to their name, entirely based on a Fleet and going from War to War and conflict to conflict without respite, justifying their Eternal Crusade,a dn thus their numbers being greater than 1000.

Another famous Non-Codex Chapter are the Space Wolves, that are organized in 13 Great Companies.

Dark Angels also are kinda Non Codex Compliants, since their 1st and 2nd Companies works VASTLY differently than other Chapters, the 1st Co is called the Deathwing, and is almost entirely made out of Terminator squads.

While the 2nd CO, the Ravenwing, is nearly entirely composed of fast moving vehicles and units, such as Land Speeders, Gunships and Bikes Squadrons.

In their Hunt for what they call [REDACTED BY ORDER OF THE HOLY INQUISITION] the Ravenwing is very efficient and will do whatever they can to attain their goals.

Additionally codex would also have each company have a different trim color to help distinguish them. Ironically 2nd and 6th are very similar given 1 is gold and another is yellow. Without the characters conversation or the marks on their right shoulder, there wouldn't be a way to tell.

If you're referring to the numbers on their pauldron, that's their squad number. The pauldron trim, in this case gold, denotes the second company
