Does this game rly deliver the Space Marine power fantasy to you?
Because I think a core gameplay design that revolves 90% around parrying fails to do that. Maybe for the Bulwark class but otherwise it's lame as hell.
When I think about Space Marines I wanna explode staff with bolter rounds and pound my enemies into the ground with melee.
In SM2 everything staggers (you can hardly ever do the longer melee combos), ammo is limited, armor is literally none existant, and everything revolves around perfect parries into quick shots to have a chance to stay alive.
No wonder ppl are already skipping most fights and just keep speedrunning the first PvE mission for fast xp instead of playing the game proper.

Yes. Things are dangerous in the warhammer 40k universe, and outplaying that danger feels pretty good.

I'm enjoying it.

I dont know if you leveled up the Assault class, but i'm litteraly feeling what you describe (big bullets and hard smashing bugs & heretic ^^!)

As you said, people does rush for power level their class and having a blast on highest difficulty with full kit class

I'd say no. Parry needs to cancel all other animations and actually parry what's coming at you. Having 200 little ♥♥♥♥♥ around you then a big guy attacking you mid swing, there's no chance to block that.

I would rather have a game like Darktide with Space Marines then this, but it's ok.

Yes, because the power fantasy most of you have is clouded by media, other games, fanmade stuff or maybe just stories.

You are not a god of war, you are merely a highly efficient tool for war. This means, you are not running into a full army expecting a glorious massacre where you come out with half a scratch. Thats only for plot armor characters.

Its actually one of the best deliveries of how Space Marines fight. Tactical, not senseless. A Space Marine has studied the art of war their whole life, they know every tactic, every strategy ever created by man and some xenos.

One Space Marine would never, never, run into a swarm of Gaunts with Warriors. He would thin out the herd first with grenades and Bolter and only in the very last second, when no other option is there, they would go into melee. Because Tyranids are a damn menace especially in closed combat.
I think it's a decent interpretation of the power levels with the small exception of how anemic guns can be against certain enemy types.

Yet you're still spending the majority of your game in close combat and trying to parry stuff because your space marine forgot to bring enough ammo on the mission.

From what I know, it's pretty lore accurate for nids to slice through armour, but I do agree that bolters feel weak in this game.

love the game to bits

Well how powerful should a sm be? They obviously had to balance between power and longevity otherwise nothing would be a challenge

the problem i think people misunderstand, is everything that make spacemarine incredible warriors are decide by the player in the game.
Decision, aim and reflexes are the most important key for a space marine, their toughness and strenght are only tool to increase their main attributs.
So as long as you are a good you will feel the power fantasy, if your aim is bad, you take poor decision and you have the reflexe of a sloth then i guess you will never feel powerfull in this game.

a little bit yes.

I would have said no the first day I played it, but sprinting into a crowd of tyranids and vaporizing half of them while parrying and executing the rest in a sequence is pretty satisfying.
