Yes, female space marines, finally it has come to this
I don't see women crying to be Ogryns on Darktide, lol. Or female Ratlings, never.

"They must be male because the zygotes are keyed to male hormones and tissue types." - Lexicanum

I'm willing to bet they don't know all the factions or at least , or even the fact that Female Space Marines actually existed in 40k many years ago, but it failed because women didn't care about it, and guys thought it was stupid. So there you go.

All these whiny people that complain about no females in any video game miss the fact that Tomb Raider, Resident Evil, Metroid, and possibly some huge titles I'm missing, have exclusively female characters in their games' stories that you have to play as, yet not one time in history has there been an account of an audience of those games saying "maaahhn we need a male Lara Croft as a playable character". And if you did hear or read about someone even SUGGESTING that, people would automatically assume it sounds dumb, because it's so out-of-pocket and unnecessary to the game.

Is it cool that you can play as either gender without the development focus leaving the game? Yeah sure.

Does it take extra development time to craft cosmetics when there's two genders? Of course it does.

The majority of the audience is male, so making a game focused on having relatable characters is going to be the no-brain-er choice to be as effective as possible.

Why do (people) want female characters in an exclusive male-only game? Because they are miserable (people) who don't have any other focus or hobbies they are actually content with and aim to make everyone as miserable as they are, I.E. a lack of one.

Example: Real LOTR fans who've read the books, watched the trilogy, possibly the cartoon, know that LOTR has elements of the forthcoming's of the industrial world, a changing world, and a world of war, hence J.R.R. Tolkien being in the first World War and growing up in the industrial revolution. The elves being depicted as pale-skinned, blue-eyed, light-haired, and the race of men being depicted as gritted-white, curly and dark-haired macho men. So that audience knows the homage is being paid to Anglo-Saxon culture. And what they to the Rings of Power is a complete disrespect to the material and Tolkien's message. Black elves? Black dwarves? ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Orc women and children? Really? Way to go with nearly 1 billion dollars spent by spitting on the source material.

So any "WAAAAH WAAAAH I NEED MY GENDER REPRESENTED AND YOU NEED TO PULL RESOURCES TO DO IT", you don't care about 40k, you don't know it's history, you don't know much of anything but that it needs yourself represented in it. Kiss my hairy ass with lipstick.
