What's the point of bulwark shield in PvE?
In the description it says it blocks all parryable attacks, but in practice, this seems to not be the case at all. Any blue glowing attack will still hit you and makes me question what the purpose of the shield even is, as it makes me feel more vulnerable having it up and being slow than just keeping it down and focus on parrying/dodging and makes the class feel overall awful to play to me

I understand, however I'd like to point out you should basically never be standing there just blocking melee attacks. Ever. There's 0 reason to do so. That shield is there for ranged enemies and ranged enemies only. Otherwise, you should be looking to hit perfect dodges and parries nonstop to control the horde around you. Bulwarks every 120 seconds get a perk later that lets them INSTANTLY execute anything extremis or below. It's insanely powerful. You just have to get super comfy with the melee combat.
Makes sense, but I think I'd rather play a class that kills enemies better. Dead enemies can't do damage. Maybe I'll try out Heavy or Sniper then, I'm better at ranged weapons anyhow.

Maybe I'll give Bulwark another chance once I put more time into this game, but atm I just feel like dead weight to my team and wishing I would've picked Sniper because If I did, all the Majoris that just ganged up on me would already have been dead and would've saved my team a lot of health. I'm struggling with Bulwark even on the lowest difficulty and just feel like a banner slave :stress:

Hahaha, you'll get the hang of it. Bulwark & Heavy have a lot of carry over in that you need to be good at parrying and perfect dodging because when things get crazy inevitably you'll end up engaging in those mechanics whether you're ready for it or not. Very much a school of hard knocks type scenario. If you want a +1 for the game feel free to add me.

You raise shield during sprint thus you block attacks of enemies you close on. Amazing against warriors with devourers.

You literally asked what the purpose of it was, I told you the purpose.

There's a perk that makes the shield more powefull that allows you to block stronger attacks

This seems to have been the only use I found for the shield so far, as blocking small enemies while they surround you and chip away at your health and hit you with grab attacks seems to be a waste of time when you could just slash at them.

That makes sense, thank you

Edit: Actually, I can not find any such perk in the perk tree. Are you sure about that?

Yeah no block weapons are tragic why do you think block shield would be any better at that.

As the description says, it will block parriable attacks. Note that the wording is block, not parry. If the attack is parriable and you are holding the shield, the attack will be blocked, not parried.
Shield negates all ranged attacks and melee attacks, as long as those are not unparriable.

Worth mentioning that you can still do normal parries, like other classes, by quickly taping the parry button instead of holding it.
Having a Shield doesn't mean you don't need to perfect parry often, in fact, perfect parries are very important for Bulwark.

See, this is the issues im having. If I try to block a blue flashing attack, I just get hit through my shield. I'm trying to block them, it's just not really working. I'm not expecting it to parry, I'm expecting it to block, but it wont.

Not helpful and off-topic. I never said Bulwark was bad. I asked what the point of the shield was, aka how do I use it effectively. I'll go ahead and be so nice as to refund you your jester

That's weird. I didn't notice anything like this when playing with Bulwark. Shield is blocking blue flashing attacks just fine.
Could it be lag?

Latency? No, I usually have around 15-30 ping. Frame lag? Maybe, the game doesn't run all that great on my machine, hovering between 40 and 50 fps during fights.
