In SM1 you had to grind cosmetic unlocks through challenges that tough you how to play the game and encouraged you to get better. The idea is good.
Problem is, if you wanted to unlock cosmetics for a faction you had to play said faction.
Of course there was more loyalist fans than chaos fans and people were really frustrated that they play half of their time in PvP in the chaos team, meaning they'll waste half of their time not being able to unlock loyalist cosmetics.
In SM2 it's different. You unlock cosmetics by winning games, and winning games only. That means people often leave a battle if they see their team has more rookies than the enemy team or if their team is about to lose, considering it a waste of time.
Also in SM2 lobbies the game does NOT swap sides after each round, meaning until you leave a lobby, you'll stay in the same faction. I can confirm this after the 18 runs I've done in the same lobby as chaos and my previous observations on many lobbies.
On top of that you only unlock cosmetics for loyalists since chaos don't have any (which is TURBO ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, DO YOU DEVS / PUBLISHERS / WHOEVER THE ♥♥♥♥ DECIDED TO RELEASE THE GAME IN THAT STATE HAVE ANY BIT OF COMMON SENSE??). A great shame since loyalists in SM2 are primaris, which are boring as hell, and chaos are first borns, which makes them automatically superior in every possible way. And of course they're chaos marines so they are, in my perfectly objective opinion that isn't biased in any fashionable way, much cooler than loyalists.
Same issue in Chivalry 2 with the Tenosian faction. They don't have any cosmetics so people VERY often leave when they see trying to swap side doesn't work.
That leads to people once again getting upset when they play chaos instead of loyalists. The eternal Space Marine problem.
WE DON'T WANT TO PLAY WHAT WE CAN'T CUSTOMIZE.
I think it would be neat if they added monogod faction variations of the classes we could select. Although, that would require more voice acting if we didn't want to get upset about lore-breaking voice lines.
I know this is probably an unpopular opinion.
and also, you can play as chaos in pvp .. but not pve .. wtf -
that better be a plan , down the line to add it .-
flip it - perspective , script and story -
--
i would rather love playing that ,, grind it with bots ..,- then what we have now ..- dosen mean its bad.. or i dont have fun .. i do -
but i always chose the "evil" side in my games.. so
--
just .. the focus on the main thing i get that , and the game is still fresh out
but ..down the line - , build the other side to " chaos ." .. maybe down the line , other faction , for what ever reason " and yeah . sounds good to me .
Chaos should've been an end-tier unlock-able skin or champion's pack for classes in PVP and PvE. Nobody gave a d*mn in Halo 2 so why would we care now? Instead we have situations like this. Nobody, and I mean nobody cares about character lore for their custom marine, because they want it to be THEIR marine. Not a random jobber that gets a fancy coat of paint and is treated like an ultramarine no matter what. (Literally wearing Minotaur/Black-Legion colors and heraldry.)
I hope for that but is not even mention on the roadmap at the moment
Well at least im not the one that get like 18 or even 24 games in a row as chaos marine...and as you mention, the only way to "swap" is leaving the actual queue and with all the issues the servers, you risk to get a DC and get forced to re-launch or go to the main menu...
And yes... not include this in the game from the start is even a stupid financial decision
Kinda agree, but also kinda sad since this game was already delayed like 1 year and see something that "obvious" not included is frustating as hell.
Glad to read you guys
