This is also the menu where you see everyone's ping and loadout.
In addition to showing you where to go, it also shows information about your teammates. It will show you if they are carrying gene seed or a relic (thou that second one can be seen by the diamond next to hp bar), how many stim packs they are carrying (which let's you know if you should be grabbing a second, or whether they need one more), and even how long the recharge on their ability is.
I feel like tab and T (spotting) are the 2 keys not being pressed enough by many players.
Yes spotting (and paying attention to others spots) is pretty important, and not just extremis enemies. If your heavy with bolter or plasma is spotting warriors coming at him, be sure as a class with better melee to not ignore that. If your fighting rubic marines, those bastards like to teleport around, and having a spot on them makes it easier to keep track of them when they do.
