So what happened to the tyranids
So the last missions of the campaign are solely fighting chaos, like we just completely ignore the splinter fleet currently eating Kadaku and Avarax. Even worse at the end of the game Titus and many of the space marines just give themselves a pat on the back for beating chaos and just up and leave, did I miss something or are they just forgetting about the Tyranids?

The hivemind was killed by other squads so the tyranids had no one to control them. And the synaptic backwash killed them all after the hivemind was killed. Have you not listen to Titus ?

The 2nd Company continues to conduct its campaign against the splinter fleet after Titus' departure, i.e. the sixth co-op mission. The roadmap has concept art on it that appears to be capillary towers so I presume the invasion is on-going.

That is still on-going, the Tyranids were dealt a blow with the hivemind being hit hard with the death of a Hive Tyrant but that Tyranid splinter fleet is not done yet.

Yeah that happened on Aravax, kadaku was also being invaded, which floors me, though still floors me that nids were wasting so much ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ biomass on 2 different planets instead of one. Bad writing for the nids imo, only way they could write a loss was to force it by what they did.

With the way Tyranids work, it's kinda implied that you can. We still don't know what the 'source' is that's directing it all though, or if there are multiple of such big bads out there in far space.

But yeah you could theoretically kill the hivemind if you kill all the synapse creatures/sources. Like taking out the brain stem.

Also well.
In adition to killing the hive mind, the enemy of man always takes priority.
They are always the greater danger.

Cyclonic torpedoes would speed up the process of clearing out the rest of the Tyranids. :P

That's assuming the hivemind is a centralized tangible entity, which I'm not so sure of. It's often described more like a gestalt psychic presence, not unlike entities described as gods. Considering how powerful it is as a psionic entity I'm skeptical that it can be killed in any conventional sense.

Here's a qoute from https://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Hive_Tyrant

"Hive Tyrants are essentially immortal, as their experiences, character and knowledge are stored within the collective consciousness of the Hive Mind. Should one be slain in battle, a replacement body can be grown and imbued with the same experiences as its predecessor."

So yeah, we killed the hive tyrant for sure. But they'll just grow a new one soon enough.
