Is it me or does the Assault Class feel awful to use on Operations?
Every other class seems viable. About 25% of the time, the ability doesn't work and dealing with trash mobs is just plain awful. Also, the only useful skills are unlocked at the end of the perk tree.

Yes jump pack doesn’t work like in the story. It has long refresh times and sometimes you jump only a few millimeters above ground. Not really rewarding.

You should probably use the jump pack on the trash mobs to clear most of them out instead of the bigger enemies who are barely affected by it. Also, grenades and firing your weapon while airborne are things that help.

No everyone is in agreement that the melee oriented classes in this melee oriented game blow ass

Because the devs don’t know what balance is and think when you hit the parry key that you obviously want to block first.

Yup. Used the jump pack on trash mobs and get all my armor and health (At max) taken away a second later. Balanced.

Lol, assault needs the jetpack from the campaign. Bulwark and Vanguard are arguably the most valuable classes in PvE and PvP. Use fencing melee weapons and profit.

Feels fine to me. I love playing assault.

It's the Recharge Time for the Jumps that kills it. Yeah, it has a lot shorter range but if the Recharge Time was ALOT shorter I would learn to use it.

ATM you use your two Jump Slams and you are just a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Vanguard for 30+ seconds.

Personally don't find it awful but it does feel subpar compared to literally everything else.

Yeah they severely nerfed the jetpack in ops. Dunno why unless they had issues with people jumping out of bounds. Thunderhammer is also terrible. Designed as anti swarm weapon yet is slow and barely has AOE so you take tons of damage using it.

The only melee class that would work is the high level bulwark, since they can restore health by planting those flags and executing some enemies..

With bigger weapons, also Assault has +50% perfect parry window.

I'm using the Thunder Hammer on ruthless and it's completely useless.

git gud? i love the class, use the warhammer, it has better AoE attack and learn the parry/dodge queues, they are usually an arrow on the edge of the screen if the attacking Xeno/CHaos is off screen.

No, it's not just you, melee kind of feels awful right now until you're high level and have perks for it. Assault's ability is especially bad.

It took some practice but now Assault feels AMAZING...when fighting the tyranids. It's absolute hell vs Chaos though I suspect all classes are struggling far more vs chaos.

Get the "20% charge time reduction for the jump pack" perk and the "ground pound does 100% more dmg but impact radius is reduced" perk. Only use it on Majoris, never minoris.

Get a fencing thunderhammer (can use the chainsword but the cleave isn't as good) + the gunstrikes do 50% more dmg perk, and the gunstrikes restore armour perk.

But most importantly, LEARN TO PARRY. The fencing weapon giving a bigger perfect parry window makes it so easy. Learn the parry minoris and majoris lvl enemies especially.

I suspect most people presume, as I did, that this is a hack and slash game (SM1 was, so why wouldn't this be, right?) and thus simply hacking away at a horde is the obvious thing to do. Turns out this just loses you health. Parrying minoris enemies then swinging only once or twice with the hammer is better. Killing a majoris that's surrounded by minoris is even better as the minoris will die from the psychic shock.
