(Serious) Why is this community so hostile towards lgbt people?

I have been watching this community for the last couple of days and all & while there have been valiant defenders of minority rights (eg Pixel, Dani) though almost universally, bigoted trolls have attacked their threads aggressively, spewing all manner of bigoted abuse towards them & those who are not cishet.
The moderators need to step in and start banning all the alt right wing influences in this community because this will cause some serious negative reputation for steam going forwards if they don't deplatform bigots.

Not to mention the fact there is little to no female representation in the game which emboldens the more...reddit side of the community because of poorly written, bigoted lore.
