Now as much as I love them, Assault is def the "worst" out of all. They can get fantastic usage, don't get me wrong. But the in PvE the jump is neutered. They get less usage out of their secondary compared to other melee oriented classes (Vanguard/Bulwark), and they require an entirely new learning curve due to the fact that well. They play differently than they do in other modes. They can still output a lot of damage, and can excel in a lot of areas. But there's some bad choices made with them imo
Worst: assault and maybe vanguard.
It makes me laugh a lot every time I see assault jump like 150 cm into the air with his jetpack in Operations. It looks and feels so wrong. Damn man. CJ in GTA San Andreas could fly higher.
For solo best is tactical, the easiest is bulwark.
For Teamplay i'd say all are more or less equal if they know how to play their class (except assault), unless you fight chaos, then the best class is sniper. And vanguard is kinda a worse tactical sadly, still my fav class.
PVE : Bull is on top too
meta classes --- anything with a melta is 30k+ ranged damage capable, sniper is 20k+ capable.
bottom tier : everything else (assault, bulwark)
Simple fact the melta is OP, tactical and heavy is arguably best class. Mix and match with a vanguard or a sniper. Rinse, repeat.
You can play a bulwark or an assault, but the scoreboard is going to reflect how bad those classes are currently.
Sniper's got some of the best damage potential though...
If you're a solo-minded unga bunga caveman who can't counter, assault has armor and escape utility and Bulwark can set up a defensive banner to recharge armor.
- Bulwark with plasma pistol
- Vanguard with melta
- Tactical with stalker gun
(vanguard with instigator + tactical with melta would be great too)
Bul/Van have massive life regen and parry ability, they just never die if played well
Bul can heal allies
Van will clear minoris in an instant and stagger majoris packs
Tactical will auspex the flying threats and vaporize them with Stalker and the help of bulwark’s plasma pistol
Bulwark will demolish bosses with plasma pistol helped by tactical’s auspex
Van will silence alarms with his grapple
However, any three class with any loadout will work if people know how to play. Ruthless isn’t that hard. Just maybe bring something for flying threats because those are annoying when you don’t have the proper weaponry.
Top of the list is Heavy/Tactical/Bulwark.
Assault/Sniper is between H/T/B and Vanguard but still miles better than Vanguard.
Assault miles better than vanguard? Time to learn vanguard my friend
I have played dozens of hours with both (the two first I mained because I like melee), and assault loses to vanguard in survivability, damage output, versatility and mobility.
Tbh I think vanguard and bulwark are the best classes from a solo perspective, the former being better at mobility (which matters when you need to carry people), and the latter being better at versatility (can deal with every enemy with the proper loadout, while Van has to choose between anti-minoris and anti-majoris weapon). Now if we talk team composition... tactical enters the chat.
I at this point categorize them on most fun vs. how easy or difficult but if I had to list them out via top tier....
Top: Vanguard - Heavy - Tactical - Bulwark - Sniper - Assault
Realistically there is no bottom cause there is a skill factor. They're only as bad as you are. I will say Assault was the hardest to learn followed by Bulwark. So if that is a factor that puts them on the bottom. Assault is probably the funniest to play though just due to the challenge of juggling resources and minimizing damage taken while being knee deep in enemies.
S tier
Plasma (probably also grenade Launcher, i need to level It) tac - laser fusil sniper -
A tier
Plasma heavy
B tier
Instigator Vanguard after lvl 20 - Power sword bulwark (this class Is awesome for solo, not much useful for party)
C tier
Hammer assault until lvl 23 Is a D then It can rise to C (B if you are VERY skilled with parry/dodge) but It doesnt provide much help beside of some minoris horde clearing, It needs more Jumps and with shorter cooldown and less janky execution.
Melta tac and vanguard are good for horde clearing in some scenario but not much else, same for multimelta heavy, also ppl seems to forget there is a nerf of -20% dmg of these weapons vs the hyve tyrant in mission 2.
It doesn't though. You can probably push around 25K ish on average with almost no damage taken. I've had 134 damage and such while in the middle of a horde. You can get like 5 Warriors in one spot landing on them is an instant kill. Even a Heavy with a Melta can't insta kill them.
Does it drop lower numbers due to not melta blasting the hordes? Sure but are damage numbers for killing minorus the determining factor on what is good and what is bad?
I really don't think so.
Assault starts out meh-ish, but he grows into a powerhouse at higher levels and proper perks. You can play him as a parry king (really strong gunstrikes), or a trash cleaner (repeated groundpounds) and even as a boss killer (carnifex in like 20 seconds, solo)
Technically bulwark is op as he can't really die, but he's boring to me, thus I place him somewhere low.
Heavy is fun for the power fantasy.
Tac is all around good, a bit plain, but solid for it.
Haven't played with sniper or vanguard yet, dunno.
