Though it would be nice to be able to switch gameplay styles. The more "be as skilled as a space marine, and you'll be untouchable" for standard, and the "I can just feel like a space marine" for an alternate mode
I'm just confused why every character doesn't have access to a combat knife... I mean there are so many they are just laying around on every planet. Every SM has access to it by default. Just very confusing.
the ironic thing about this is a litany of changes the astartes mod made have actually been implemented into vanilla sm2, especially with the current state of the PTS
the most obvious example right now is block stacks only requiring 2 for max stacks now at the cost of only returning one armor bar, which was done by AO first
it isnt lol, its objectively easier than the base game because they give you so many tools to recover from severe injuries, such as health return on executions that scales with enemy type (up to like 30% return for terminus and one extremis now since they reintroduced the lictor alpha) and the ability to regain almost your entire healthbar in contested health from a single melee attack
your weapons also deal significantly more damage, your classes are significantly more powerful and generally useful (especially assault), and every enemy you face has noticeably less health
just look at heavy, he can literally have infinite armor and infinite super high damage iron halo explosions due to how the iron halo charge system works, on top of having the most op melee and ranged dps build theoretically possible in case that somehow doesnt work
and if that isnt enough? theres the still excruciatingly OP custom classes, especially apothecary who is literally unkillable as long as youre actually trying
it *can* be made to be excruciatingly more difficult, as is the nature of mods, but default AO is definitely easier than the base game; just try soloing absolute in vanilla vs soloing absolute in astartes overhaul, youll see
I have to agree with you on the Heavy being utter broken. I can see why Saber doesn't let him use the knife.
If you took the time and actual read the mod description OP you would know that Astartes Mod has some major buffs, nerfs to enemy health, player do more damage aso.
If you want a real challenge play SwarmIncrease mod with Vanilla settings on absolute.
lol welcome back, again!
how do you feel about the astartes mod?
Right,
I'd add that the base game is becoming less and less fun... and more disappointing with each update...
Adding more and more difficulty levels for what purpose? Having ugly skins? The devs have lost sight of the main point: we're playing Space Marines, not porcelain dolls...
If they want to make the game difficult, they just have to add a Cadian mod. And give us the opportunity to play as a Cadian. They're in the game, there are their weapons and their customization elements... They just have to be made playable...
The devs are in a bind because of the console versions. Thanks to mods, you can multiply the number of enemies by five and add tens of allied troops or more: Space Marines, Dreadnoughts, Cadians, etc., and feel like a character lost in the fight. Doing this on console is impossible...
The result is that we're playing mediocre updates with no content, with ever-increasing delays between each update. In a few days, it'll be spring, and we're still waiting for the final part of the Winter Pass.
They announced SM3, and it's great that they're officially abandoning SM2 to give modders free rein. At least modders produce interesting content, not the devs...
We can't even customize our characters the way we want, and we don't even have access to the champion set gear pieces individually, even though we pay...
SM2 is a kit game; I don't think they've produced anything since the game's release, and all the content they've sent has just been waiting. There probably won't be anything after spring and the completion of the first road map...
It's both a waste and a blessing. The chance to go full mod with people who lovingly produce real and good content.
