Thoughts on the Neo-Volkite Pistol
After fully upgrading the pistol and trying out various tactics with it, it's a good side-arm. But it's only good when used right, game play wise it's ok as long as you take advantage of the perks for it although the heat build up can be rather slow even with the perks, so maybe to mend that issue maybe its heat up speed can be increased by an additional 20%, and increase the heat explosion radius by the same amount.

But hey, aesthetic wise at least you can finally play as a full salamander marine, even more when paired with the Melta Rifle.

Over all the pistol just need some adjustments to make it viable for higher difficulties but is an otherwise neat new weapon.

My thoughts? I would rather bring a literal laser pointer into battle. That way at least I wouldn't get my hopes up.

Jokes aside. Increase the speed at which it heats enemies up by 50-100% (or just lower the cap to half of what it is), and considerably increase the contested health it returns. I'm talking like... 200% here... minimum. This is absolutely essential to make it viable in higher difficulties over the alternatives.

Making it aesthetically feel like it has a little more impact would also be nice. It is... dissatisfying to say the least.

It is a great single target weapon, been using it on my assault on ruthless and it does very well.

I like new content just like everyone else buuuuuut
it's kinda boring, I leveled it to relic and never looked at it again lol

Played every mission on lethal, with Bulwark + Vanguard. Both using bottom tree.
It feels like a team weapon to me. When both of us beaming the same majoris/extremis it stagger quite consistently and get low enough to be kill with a few melee hits. On the other hand solo beaming is very lackluster.
However, when fighting Helbrute It works better then bolt pistol IMO.
Fighthing bosses or targets where high accuracy (e.g. spore mines) is needed, good weapon. If you need to hit fast and hard, not so good weapon. But welll therefore i normaly have other tools like Melta, Hammer or Sword.
Also Fun fact, you can damage the bio titan with it in the 7th operation, while it crosses your path, jsut before the endfight.

It's pretty good vs spore mines and barbed stranglers.
Does decent AoE damage and stagger on gunstrike.
Two shooting at the same Carnifex melted it.
Not bad at all.
There are a few important things to take away.

  • Multiple pistols stack the same explosion
  • it gets an additional 500% damage boost as it increases tiers, the most in the game. 300% from relic alone...thanks Sabre

so I really say it's rating should wait until then.

It really needs a faster heat up rate because as of now it takes to long to stagger / stop call ins.
Double Zoans are a real pain because of it since they swap shields before enough heat can be built up for an explosion.

Also, the power scaling is awful until you reach relic tier

I had hopes it would be good vs zoanthrope for solo play. especially as bulwark. Just leveled mine to relic and still underwhelming in that fight so far IMO. Still need more experiments but not promising for solo.
