Will there be Female presets?
I'm all for playing as a badass giant space marine, but will there be an option on say multiplayer or coop to make female presets for us female players?

If you think the setting is effectively Saints Row in Space, where nothing is to be taken seriously, all because the setting occasionally pokes fun at itself (what popular setting doesn't do this? Even LOTR does this), and where anything can be changed on a whim and nothing is to be taken seriously...why have you spent that much on miniatures?

It would be a little like someone spending thousands of dollars on a sports hobby, and then saying they are open to any of the fundamentals of the sport being changed, and oh btw don't take anything about the sport seriously, because it's a jokester sport for jokesters, and everyone's in on the joke. Are you really a fan of the sport in question if that's how you view it?

I mean no offense, but that's kind of how you've presented your opinion.
I'm sorry but this proves otherwise.

Besides, I don't care what you think of me other than just a nuisance in your hate speeches.
Bruh, did you just decided to repeat what he said to you earlier?

We allowed you to understand Warhammer as a non-satirical work WITHIN your group, with your reading comprehension and vision of the world we can tolerate you, coming to impose your perspective on us by insulting ours and trying to offend our intelligence with your continuous fallacies is not

You gotta get off that arrogance buddy, I'm just hobbiest in a Steam forum.

I don't know you, I don't want to know you, and I sincerely don't care whether you "tolerate" me or not.
The difference is, Hexagoros was on point, while you quoted random messages and implied he thought something of you.

I'm sorry I'm not going to fall for that bait, do it better.

That is not bait, that is mere truth. To say that you don't care what he thinks of you, he should think something of you in the first place.

I'm not disingenuous, I was referring to "Emperor of Mankind" title as a satire, sorry if the long paragraph made you think otherwise, when something is made silly, is not meant to be taken seriously, hence why I used the word satire.

Oh no, my favorite word: Satire. *gulp*

I think a lot of people are looking at this through a conspiratorial or political lens without considering the whole picture of why there is a sudden and coincidental shift to expand on pre-existing IPs.

within the last decade companies have direct access to more consumer data and feedback than they ever had before. couple this with the recent shift of remote work, and Covid quarantines have both incentivized people to take up more indoor entertainment and hobbies. The sales of table top games has soared dramatically since 2020, while already being on the rise of popularity in general.

The increase in sales of products like WH40k has also increased the demographics of people interested in these products, which has also increased the amount of feedback and data they have on their customer base.

Alan Merrett (Writer, Game Designer, and ex-head of the GW intellectual property has already stated that "The reason there are no female space marines has nothing to do with lore, or background, or character of Marines. It to do with simple logistics of making miniatures and selling miniatures. Early Citadel ranges had female models of most character types - in fact when we produced the C range the intention was that upwards of 25% of all models would be female.

But when we first started selling the first fully formed C code, which was C01 Fighters, retailers kept complaining to us that customers weren't buying female models, and could we not include them in their restocks. So we took the female models out of circulation (I simply didn't include them in the production cycle).

It wasn't the only example! and so we pretty much stopped any thoughts of doing massive ranges of female wizards, etc... This was in the early to mid 80's. Citadel customers made it clear that they weren't interested in buying female models.

So when the Rogue Trader ranges and exciting new Space Marine model ranges it was difficult to see how we could logistically add the occasional female mode to the mix (Blisters of marines came in packs of 3 and the days of huge random mixes were long gone).

All the background fluff about why there are only male Space Marines is there to justify a commercial logistics issue."

So I think in the case of GW they have made the decision to make more female models because there is a demand that once wasn't there.

GW has also added males to what used to be female only groups, the assassins were exclusively female until the mid 1990's when they started adding male assassins to the roster.

The thing to remember is that Warhammer 40k is a table top game first, the lore is background and is created in service of the game. There are a lot of people that just enjoy the table top game for what it is, and couldn't care less about the lore anymore than someone cares about the lore of Candyland, or Monopoly.

It doesn't mean the complaints about lore retcons/inconsistencies aren't a factor, but they aren't the sole feedback the company is going to use to make business decisions about their game, especially since the novels account for only 1% of GW's revenue, the fact of the matter is that the majority of the Warhammer 40k community does not care about the lore, they just like to play the table top.

They are paying customers, and they also deserve to have their feedback taken into consideration, that's just good business practices. Lore is fluid and is constantly changing, some are good, some aren't. Doesn't mean there is a particular political agenda tied to it when the simple and logistical answers are readily available, and doesn't require conspiracies to be involved.

Refusing to discuss fallacies is not intolerance, refusing to get muddied is not arrogance.

lol.

Look, at the end of the day, I think it's unfortunate for girl gamers there's no female character options in this game, be it a Sister of Battle, Custode, etc.

I don't think it's a big deal for a gal to take on the role of a male protagonist for the campaign, but when your invited to create your own character for the PvE/PvP missions, it kinda feels like a "step-down" from virtually every other online experience where you build a character. o_O

Any way, I'm still still hyped for this game either way. :3

The market is now larger and broader and the logistical capacity to produce and sell female models is now stronger than before.

Marine women are on the way, whether they like it or not.

GW would be crazy NOT to change the lore to have female.
Not that I would agree with it, but I also wouldn't mind it either.
More options is always better than few options.
I bet they will outsell the male marines, lol.
Dudes will be coming out of the woodworks for those elegantly designs death machines.

Hence why I find it banal people think the Sisters of Battle only unique trait as being women. It's not their blind devotion for the Emperor. It's not the literal miracles they can use. It's not the Gothic church aesthetic they have. If there's women in the Adeptus Astartes, they somehow lose all that according to people here

I know the lore doesn't matter - but the Sisters of Battle exist based on a gendered technicality "The Ecclisarchy shall retain no men under arms." And so they created an army of "women under arms."

In other words, their very existence as a fighting force is based on their gender.

And yes, that is in turn what makes them unique.

The Gothic architecture is literally everywhere in the setting from the ships to the cathedrals. The Imperial Navy is an armada of cathedral shaped ships.

Fanaticism is hardly unique to the Sisters. Hello Black Templars. Hello Exorcists (Space Marines specifically trained to fight demons). Hello Grey Knights. Hello Inquisitorial Storm Troopers. Hello Ordo Hereticus/Witch Hunters. etc. etc. etc.

Even Miracles are not unique to the Sisters. Miracles happen as often in the lore as authors need them. I forget the name of the Space Marine wandering the warp through sheer force of will (The Emperor intervened shocker). Even Darktide throws out miracles left and right (their legit one of the class abilities).

What it comes down to is characterization. The Sisters of Battle have a unique aesthetic and role as a counterpart to the Space Marines. And them being all-female really is a big part of that.

The Gothic architecture such as that is only present in books and art work. Now, if I were to ask for a faction full of Gothic iconography in their models, where would you point me to? The Primaris Black Templars? Or a small smattering of subfaction models? Or would you point me to the faction with church tanks. Or mini-cathederal-esque walkers. If I were to ask for a faction that's focused on "burning heretics". Where would the direction be?

This is why I say being women isn't the only defining trait of the Sisters of Battle. And it's why nobody complains when there's women in the Imperial Guard. Or as Inquisitors. Because it turns out being women isn't a defining factor. In one of your examples, Inquisitorial Stormtroopers, they also have women. As such, do they detract from the Sisters of Battle?

The aesthetic is directly what I'm going for, and signifying why it isn't their special thing. You can put anyone in boob plate and a corset, but you can't make anyone religious fanatics running around screaming with flamethrowers or meltas. At least not as easily.

One of the other big things is that it's not lore makes models (usually. There are occasional exceptions like that one Cadian gal from a book). The models make the lore. So with women in the space marines, y'know what you do? Just give them feminine heads. They've shown they can do that with Cadian sculpts. Don't make em all churchy. Don't make their sculpts all funky. Just keep em as Marines. And surprisingly, they still look completely different and seperate from SoB

Tbh considering that it's marines, I don't think they'd outsell. They'd be bundled in together most likely, in which GW can use that as an excuse to make the Primaris kit $5-10 more expensive because of new sculpts. Similar to what they did to the Cadian box before 10th

Actually, you're probably right. They'd more than likely just keep the same body types, and just make female looking heads. Done. :D

That's what I hope they do at least. Doesn't really make much sense to me to make an entirely new sculpt thing goin on outside the head. Plus, minimizes the effort put forth.

proceeds to glue Adeptus Sororitas heads onto his Adeptus Astartes bodies.

Am I doing it right?
