Ranks of the Operations Characters.
As title.

Curious as to the characters ranks. Are they all regular battle brothers or are some Sergeants/Veteran Sergeants?

Just curious, but looking for solid confirmation, not fan-fiction :)

Google didnt help, just gave me info on class rankings rather than their individual rank as per the story/lore etc

I am unsure, but they seem to all be Titus' squad, which I would think puts most of them as effectively 'rifleman'. They don't seem to have a dedicated specialist(Apothecary, Liberian, ect) so my guess is the rest of the squad are just Marines, with one of them at least(maybe) being a SGT, but no idea who that would be. Gabriel perhaps?

Gadriel is the Sergeant of the Squad before Titus was been put in charge over them.

Well, excluding the Main Story characters, i get the strong sense that Straban and Decimus are sergeants, maybe even Vaspasius too.

With regards to the way the squads are made up, i think its from a story point of view where the Ultramarines are making do with what they can *insert Acheran 'i can only spare 3 men' meme*
And with the way Space Marines would likely deploy in real life as opposed to the Table Top aspect of minimum 5 men fire teams etc - that being said though, it would be somewhat strange to have 3 sergeants away from their respective squads, but that could just be the 'tabletop' way of thinking.

Wait I thought Titus was the LT of the squad, demoted from captain right?

Canonically they're all a part of Titus' primary squad as just "Battle-Brothers.". Modern Codex Astartes has each company with 2 Lieutenants that command half the company under the Captain. Theoretically Titus is charged with around 50 marines. We only see 11 or so throughout. Their hierarchy probably resembles something like this:

:LT Titus
:SGT Gadriel
:Chairon (has Iron Halo honors on knee pad, potential Veteran status)
:Valius - Battleline
:Decimus - Battleline
:Vespasius - Close Support
:Quartus - Close Support
:Scipius - Fire Support
:Straban - Fire support
:Honorable mention to the other 3 guys that got killed by a Lictor and the Thunderhawk crash, as well as other marines you find dead throughout Kadaku.

Headcanon: Valius has the most potential for a leadership role, particularly LT imo, given his attitude and comments made by Vespasius. Quartus would and Straban would make good Sergeants having inspiring fervor and calculating precision respectively. Vespasius and Decimus are far too aggressive to see much upward momentum in the Ultramarines, though Vespasius would make a Veteran candidate for wise counsel. Scipius, aside from Valius, also embodies the Ultramarines the best and would make a good leader, though he has an ego in regards to his personal skill that might detract from it.

I can see it now. Chaptermaster Straban, "The Boltcounter" and "Master of the Calculus".

Are we sure he´s not an Iron Hand?

Genuinely he acts like an Iron Warrior who never fell. Iron Hands tend to be kinda jerks, Straban is just..doing the job, no complaints, no editorials, just work.

Very pre-fall Peter-turbo.

I have him as an Imperial Fist on my color-schemes. Plants his feet into the dirt, to the point, no-nonsense. Classic Son of Dorn! (But I also have an Iron Warrior scheme on him too but don't tell anyone)

Yeah, I rock Imp fist and Iron Hands mostly, but in part because I just do not have the Warriors yet...maybe my next heraldry...(THANKS game, for making my cosmetics and perks the same currency, I TOTALLY am not kneecapping myself constantly in the name of looking pretty x.x))

We are still missing the Hazard Stripes though. No self respecting Iron Warrior will show up without them.

I make do with using the knee-pad markings. The diagonal ones colored black and yellow, left one is black then yellow, right one is yellow then black.

I also do the same with a checker pattern on the left knee for my Lamenters :'(
