What's with the new Thousand Sons Emblem and the Research Data Center?

Title says it all, folks. If you look under your pauldron emblems, there's a new Thousand Sons Ouroboros emblem. Clicking the unlock criteria takes you to the "Research Data Center", where there's what looks to be a NPC catalog and a new currency to unlock these entries. There's no other way I've found to access it, no way I've found so far to unlock anything.

I'm guessing it's a teaser or an "oopsie" from the devs, just like the helm paint scheme we couldn't unlock that released with this update. Given the utter lack of presence of the Thousand Sons compared to the other traitor legions when it comes to customization, i'm hoping that means one of the next major updates will focus on chaos customization, or at the very least some thousand sons gear.

My guess is, that these research points will probably be tied to either the Log entries or general game progression in the Singleplayer campaign with the next major update.

Atlantean Spears: unlock by completing Research Challenges in the Tyranids category
Imperius Reavers: unlock by completing Research Challenges in the Imperium category
Sons of Gulliman: unlock by completing Research Challenges in the Adeptus Astartes category
Thousand Sons: unlock by completing Research Challenges in the Forces of Chaos category

hold click takes you to the Research Centre (under dataslate repository) with the four categories, each has 15-19 unlocks (with 5 purple 'research data') they look like 3d models, maybe for the battle barge? IDK

I would assume something akin to Grimoire in Destiny - fun unlocks and collectables to display.

Although the fact that the Hive Ship currently shows what I think is a Baneblade makes me laugh - just imagining a Space Marine opening the hatch to find it filled to the brim with Rippers, unleashing a tidal wave.
