So if you only spam the charge attack combo, it will start to feel right, as it does stagger majoris rather well on charge attacks, and leaves less openings than the thunder hammer, but you lose out on aoe.
Maybe i played assault too little but as bulwark i don't care what weapon i use, power sword, fist, chainsword. I will still do most of my damage through parry
Playing assault with a block type melee weapon really forced me to learn the ins and outs of melee.
Nothing wrong with that tactic parry is really strong. I do parry when I can, but rely on my melee attacks first. I use the melee weapon attacks for control along with doing more damage. With the assault for example those light cleaving hammer swings along with rotating the camera can clear out whole sections of minoris and still leaving you able to react to orange dodge circles. Depending on the weapon you can also almost stunlock a majoris until it is dead through melee attacks(knowing the weapon's combos and light/heavy attacks).
I have leveled assault to max, but most of the time i used charged hammer strike for groups of majoris or ground pound for minoris. I just don't like combo system, so any tactic that avoids it is a good one for me
