Assault perfect dodge with jump pack perk
For anyone like me who couldnt make this perk to work i finally understood that it gives you perfect dodge when you dodge with it directly to the enemy, so the description is incorrect

the description isnt incorrect, it just isnt very obvious what a perfect dodge requires and the game never directly tells the player aside from a slightly misleading piece of info mentioned once (sounds like a lot of mechanics in this game....)

a perfect dodge requires two things:
1. an enemy to hit you during iframes
2. those iframes to be the beginning iframes of the dodge, which iframes specifically is determined by class and perks but it is always the beginning iframes

this is easy with quickstep, as the location displacement of the dodge is very minimal, meaning its very easy for enemies to hit you during iframes

its more difficult with dodge rolling, as the location displacement is larger, but can be done easily by dodging forwards into the enemy or towards the direction of the incoming attack

jump pack dodge has a very large location displacement range, meaning it is much harder to stay within range of an enemy attack for it to hit your iframes during the distance of the dodge; this is fixed by dodging into an enemy attacking you or by waiting to the last possible moment before dodging in the direction of the incoming attack

the perks for jump pack dodging remove the requirement of #2, leaving only #1

jump pack dodge damage can also incapacitate an enemy before they hit you, meaning you cant get a perfect dodge, so dont try doing it if the majoris/extremis youre fighting is low health

Thank you. I don't understand how it works either. So you have to be as close to the enemy as possible and fly away from him? Or, on the contrary, fly into him during his attack?
Hello
It's exactly like a perfect dodge but instead of pressing spacebar you press jump pack button.

So basically you just use your jump pack directly charging into your enemy to dodge his attack and you get the perk to work, it is either wrong description or if you would dodge it like you would by using space bar you fly away too far for the gun strike to register.

From what i understand and how it has worked for me is if you use the jump pack with a tap not push much like the spacebar within the actual dodge window it registers as a perfect dodge with accompanying gun strike reguardless of the direction you actually dodge the only two things i have noticed most commonly is it might fail if the damage from your jump pack sends the npc into execute it might fail, I personally have had it happen infrequently but it does and tapping the ability key quickly with no directional key press added with jump you into or through the npc and register the dodge and accompanying gunstrike.

So you mean by just pressing the ability withoud using WASD?

Ok thanks brother, i was also thinking that the distance covered by the jump pack is too big and it messes up everything so i started to ram the enemies to make it work

yes you do not need to use a directional key with it, quick tap during dodge window will do it - however you will usually leap forward or towards the enemy being dodged and end up next to them usually unless its moving rapidly like a disc warrior in chaos or a carnifex they usually go through you and the gunstrike is off screen or you turn and execute it.

I read all of this, and still can't make it work. Just pressing the button either doesn't do a thing or I jump too early.
Well you can try the following:

Pick a class without parry/block window buff, pick block weapon and go solo Inferno, practice the block timing unless you are already good at that. It will teach you to press the button later as block does not have ridiculous window of fencing weapon (if you were using that).

If you can already use block on no-bonus class ignore the above.

Well now when you are used to press the button right before attack connect do the same but use dodge so you get consistent gunstrike tagets.

When comfortable with the above go for assault dodge practice, pick the lvl 25 perk and do the same as with dodge, just make sure to dodge towards them to minimise the shift influence.

You can get perfect dodge with backward jetpack to btw, but the timing is one of the tightest in the game if attack does not have much reach.

Thanks! As usual how it happens to me, right after I decided to make a comment/post about it, I managed to figure it out. I wasn't fast enough to delete my own comment/post though :-)
