Champion skins are painfully in contradiction with what the people want, and with the game design itself which strongly push you toward customizing your marines.
The only moment I could see a case for "locked set" would be for something actually unique, like a grey knight or Legion of the Damned skin, other than that, the DLC should just deliver "standard sets" that can be broken down and recolored like any other skins.
I'd push further and say that each DLC should have delivered a full set for each class, with a full set of weapon skins.
It's not as if it was something hard to do when 80% of the armors are reused trough different sets, and slapping a random chapter iconography on a piece of armour is literally the most basic reskin job possible.
Exactly. I don't use any of them, because they either don't fit the look I want, or I simply don't want to look like "generic dude that bought the DLC".
A shame really, because some sets could have been great if we were allowed to customize them. The Dark Angel one in particular would have been the perfect set to turn into an Inner Circle with a hood and black paint.
Havent used a champion skin and like I wrote doesnt seem anyone else wants to. Its just a gimmick season pass buyers get that they dont really want.
100% agree, I thought that it was Games Workshop limiting them from adding them as regular customizable skins, so you couldn't use them in a "not lore-friendly way", however they added single chapter themed armor parts in the DLC packs (Dark Angels & corvus armor & pauldrons etc.). You can freely use them on marines from other chapters, so it doesn't make any sense....
But the fact that you can't customize it at all kist totally kills it.
You can't give it some cool knee marking (this guy is BEGGING to get a checker on his knees), you can't give him a hood, etc etc. It's just turn an objectively great armor set into something you don't want to use.
(also, I'd kill to be able to use the helmet on a tactical).
Listen, if Tactical can get a lame ass tactical mohawk, it should absolutely be able to get the massive ears
Side note is some of the champion skins don't even make sense. The Salamanders who are famous for flamers and meltas....A sniper champion.
>_>
nice choice.
