Modding questions and progress saving
All mods requires either being offline or playing on Private session. If I'm offline, that means I need to start Steam in offline mode, right? And continue the game without connecting to the server. This is how mods work? I'm talking about mods like Astartes and so on.

The question is, how does the game track progress towards unlockable armours and level-up perks? A clear help would mean a lot. Thanks.

the game will detect that you are modded and give you a warning when you get to the main menu. you dont need to take any special steps to be following the rules

i suggest using the vortex mod manager to install Astartes Overhaul since you can just 1-click disable the mod in vortex when you want to play vanilla.

in future versions of the game your modded progress will not count towards your vanilla progress, i THINK, but im not sure, that right now that is not the case, but either way you dont need to do anything to make sure you arent breaking the rules

When I started the game offline, it said that once I go back online, my progress will not carry over. So, I'm not so sure now.

If you are running a mod, it will not save any progress. You will finish a mission, get no exp, no relics. Any mod, even a color change can trigger this. The devs said they would add in mod support at a later date. But its on full lock down right now because some mods were corrupting online players files who had no mods. I dont know that theirs any work around for this right now, but as it stands mods mean no goodies (off line wont count)

Ok, cool. Thanks for the replies. I guess I'll get to max level with 3 more classes and weapon perks before I start using that Astartes mod.

the devs didnt say they did this because peoples saves were getting corrupted, that fear mongering is 100% fabricated. playing with a modded player will NOT corrupt your saves and there is 0 evidence of that happening other than "i swear it happened to me" being posted on forums. the only reasonable explanation to make this change is that mods drastically change the design of the game and they dont want players who are expecting a vanilla experience to find themselves in a lobby where somebody has a full auto plasma incinerator. players should expect a vanilla experience unless they actively seek out mods. also, you can unlock paid cosmetics with mods and money is a big motivator
