Now that the hype has died down....
Is this game actually worth getting? I've been back and forth on it. On one hand, I love 40k. On the other hand, the combat looks samie and I've heard pretty awful things about the missions and combat.

It's completely subjective. I have bought ultra edition and very happy with my purchase. Can only paint you a picture of what to expect so you could make the choice for yourself

Campaign is short 6 missions maybe an hour each
PvP is 3 maps, haven't touched it at all some people say it's dead
PvE is 8 maps 30-40 min each, left 4 dead style gameplay. But zero replaybility all ops will be the same, only enemy placement and difficulty change

There is 6 classes all slapped together from campaign weapons.

All dlcs are cosmetics only, by buying standard edition you will have all gameplay addition that are on the roadmap, and you will have color schemes of all main legions.

Gameplay is pure spectacle over substance, finishers are meaty, with a good sound to them and gore, but all the combat elements lack any depth to them. Combo system is short and mostly useless. Range damage is often too low to be your main tool, it will quickly boil down to parrying enemy attacks and making gunstrike till you can execute him.

Again hard to say about "worth" I love 40k and have no way to play so close as my beloved Imperial Fists or Black Templar's in any other 40k game. Here i pick class i like, pick a legion i love, launch op and see red. It's pure dopamine hit every time, the gore, the weight behind my hits or shots, the blood of enemies of humanity covering my marine and of course the battle brothers beside you. On higher diff you are surrounded by chaos of gunfire, chainsword reaping flesh and screams of your enemies.

No feeling like it in any other 40k game i have ever played

its a cool game and i recommend trying it out. your choice if you want to try it or not.

As a huge 40k fan, I'll say it's worth the base price of the game for sure. Especially if you're a model collector. For the price of a box of Primaris you get a fairly decent story, wonderful map, sound, and model design. The campaign is enjoyable with memorable moments, and then there's the PvE operations that are pretty fun.

That being said, this game isn't meant to keep your focus forever. It's definitely more "play until you're done. And come back when you want". With the PvE missions being both limited and the same thing over and over

So, my thing is I've played Vermin and Darktide. I've been told multiple times that darktide is the better game. . . and darktide. . . kinda. . . sucks.

Main fun here is Operation game mode (PvE), it repeating but I love the difficulty and it better than Darktide if you like helldivers 2

No, I dont think I will.

The game is good, thus it has great reviews.

Best of luck with it!

Yes addicting game.
If you stick with it to the endgame. Gameplay is even better then Helldivers 2 in my opinion, especially if you like fighting a litte bit more close up from time to time.

Hordemode is coming up as well wich i am really really excited about :SM2imperialfists:.

The primary issue with that is these are two different types of games. Darktide is a live service PvE game with narrative elements kinda thrown in and are easily ignored. With its primary focus being the multiplayer.

Space Marine 2 is a PvE game with narrative elements being made alongside it. So if you're here for a replayable horde shooter akin to Helldivers, Darktide, or even Spacehulk, this isn't the game you'd want. If you want a narrative story where the missions are genuinely fun the first time around, up to maybe even the 4th or 5th (including Operations). I've heard the comparison made frequently made to Gears of War, which feels apt. If you've played that, it's like the Warhammer version

I love it. The first space marine is what got me in to 40k, and I feel the sequel was a great follow-up to the first.

The first game had Exterminatus mode, and that is still played even today, so the pve will probably have a long lasting group, but pvp is only well and alive on the weekends.

I say yes, but as a huge fan of the series. :victoryemblem:
