Just give the combos more armor penetration or/and damage as more as you hit a target.
That would be reasonable, lore and should be pretty easy to implement
Powerfist can perform well. Don't just look at it and say damage is horrible compared to something like thunder hammer so powerfist must suck without considering what it does bring to the table. Stagger, almost full mobility while doing your full range of attacks, short combat animations so never caught on your heels hit by orange circle attacks.
Typical run on lethal with randoms with powerfist. Decent melee damage, good amount of kills. Kept me safe from taking large amounts of damage while always in the middle of the pack fighting.
