Fastest way to level a weapon?
been doing operations, and i feel like my weapons are not leveling very fast. I try only using them when I can, but quite often they might not be optimal for a situation. currently on my vanguard i have two relic weapons and one artificer, just trying to get the artificer up.

Whats the trick here? is it only to use the one weapon or is there something else to it?

The higher the difficulty, the more exp you get.

Mission 6 on ruthless difficulty, do not change the weapon set during the run. Find gene seed and dont lose it.

...so are you guys saying it doesnt matter how many enemies i kill with a weapon, it just depends on completing the mission?
Just play PvP

Kills don't matter. Higher difficulties obviously give more rewards and finding the gene-seed adds a percentage bonus on top. Look up a guide if you need to learn the locations.

If you have a look at the mission result screen, you see that each objective has an individual XP reward. So whatever weapon was used when completing an objective get's the XP for that section. Bonus XP for the gene-seed goes to the last weapon, probably the same for the new extermination rank bonus.

Don't know if the bug is still in the game, but make sure you kill at least one enemy with the weapon in question. Otherwise it might not earn any XP.

Not sure if this is relevant to your question, but use armory data to master individual weapons, especially the bad ones. You earn them faster than you can spend them and mastery for all weapons requires more XP in total than unlocking the next tier, so don't waste your time there.

Kills do matter now, you get more exp based on the percent of total enemies you kill, capping out at i believe 80% killed.

Which is not the same as this:

You mean the extermination bonus, which is mentioned seperately.
