error 140 with cross play turned on.. any solution yet?
As the title says...
If cross play is turned on, I get a connection error (140), that's why I turned it off. But when I turn it off, it'shard to find a random group to play with.

Is there any solution found yet to fix this? Did the devs respond to this problem and goign to fix this?

Thank you very much

No solution so far, only turning cross play off kind of works. Haven't read anything about, if the devs have responded to this issue yet. Only thing I have read is that "something" will come this month.
Has anyone posted this over on their forums lately? I have crossplay turned off for now, even though with non console users, I am still seeing some with obvious issues that impact my game.
On one, I could tell from just loading into the OP that they were dragging things down, and when I loaded at the start of the OP, it was just me & 2 NPCs, the other player was still not there, so I left and returned to the battle barge. The OP immediately after was mostly fine, but again, during the match the orange bars showed up in the top right again, however we were able to complete it.

I wonder if it's happening (error 140) on a specific level, meaning minimal, average, substantial etc.

well.. thinking back to HD2, Devs needed pretty long to fix connectivity problems. seems to be a major challenge for game developers.

The weird thing about this Error 140 now is that for me and most other players I see complaining about it, crossplay matchmaking was working fine until two or three weeks ago, then suddenly it's Error 140 all the time.
Whatever Saber did with SM2 in this period, broke crossplay matchmaking when it was working fine for a lot of players.
Ok I tried this, and maybe coincidence, but I'll post it anyway.

My computer is brand new (Aug 2024) but whatevs..

Close everything

First I cleared %temp% (win key +r)
Then I ran disk cleanup and clicked on the button to clean up system files - checked everything and ran
Then I cleared prefetch (win key +r, type in "prefetch" without the quotes, ctrl A, shift Delete, just skip anything it can't delete)

Launched the game, turned crossplay back on and no errors, played a round, took a break, went back in several times just to test but kept hitting the someone already using the class I wanted to use issue, but otherwise no errors, OPs loaded fine.

Yep, I was having no problem through a number of patches, and it started giving me issues about two weeks ago, and this was with crossplay enabled. Oddly, in trying to play directly (invite) with someone on another platform (me on PC, she on PS5), I could join her in the battle barge but would get the 140 actually trying to get into a map.

Doesnt work either way for me, the machine is not immortal it seems
Too bad, but at least it was an avenue to try

for my i get this error when i use any dlc content, if i use vanilla skins its all right

Dlc armor skin, disconected 2 times. Base blue skin, i just joined an operation
I no longer think there is any rhyme or reason to it after seeing all the posts on it. They must have a server or 2 in the cluster of servers with some sort of issue, and it kicks off the error if something about the OP, regardless of crossplay on or off, or the OP level if it's hosted in any way with one of the wonky servers; it's down to the luck of the draw.

Yes I'm suddenly now getting this too. It's been working fine and now suddenly consistent error 140. Turning off Crossplay gets me into a game but no one can join and now always solo.

I have tried:
1. Rebooting PC
2. Reinstalling whole game
3. Entirely Different PC
4. Rebooting Router
5. Factory reset and re-config router
6. Entirely Different Router
7. Entirely Different Internet Connection
8. Time Zone set to auto and correct location

All consistent Error 140. This is definitely a problem with the game's match making and networking all of a sudden.

I saw this in another post. I have been doing it for about 24hrs so far and haven't had one connection issue. Going to keep trying it until I get any errors again. I don't have EOS installed so I just followed the last section about Easy Anti-Cheat.

1) Open Task Manager
2) Start the game normally
3) In Task Manager, End Task every line about Epic Online Services
4) you'll see a splash screen for Easy Anti Cheat like normal. Let it finish.
5) once it's finished and the real game starts to load, go to Task Manager and End Task on Easy Anti-Cheat too.

Tried ending the EOS and Anti Cheat tasks, also unfortunately, didn't work in my case. Also tried the method on 2x different PCs, 2x different network hardware and 2x internet connection methods and providers.
