On one, I could tell from just loading into the OP that they were dragging things down, and when I loaded at the start of the OP, it was just me & 2 NPCs, the other player was still not there, so I left and returned to the battle barge. The OP immediately after was mostly fine, but again, during the match the orange bars showed up in the top right again, however we were able to complete it.
I wonder if it's happening (error 140) on a specific level, meaning minimal, average, substantial etc.
Whatever Saber did with SM2 in this period, broke crossplay matchmaking when it was working fine for a lot of players.
My computer is brand new (Aug 2024) but whatevs..
Close everything
First I cleared %temp% (win key +r)
Then I ran disk cleanup and clicked on the button to clean up system files - checked everything and ran
Then I cleared prefetch (win key +r, type in "prefetch" without the quotes, ctrl A, shift Delete, just skip anything it can't delete)
Launched the game, turned crossplay back on and no errors, played a round, took a break, went back in several times just to test but kept hitting the someone already using the class I wanted to use issue, but otherwise no errors, OPs loaded fine.
Yep, I was having no problem through a number of patches, and it started giving me issues about two weeks ago, and this was with crossplay enabled. Oddly, in trying to play directly (invite) with someone on another platform (me on PC, she on PS5), I could join her in the battle barge but would get the 140 actually trying to get into a map.
I have tried:
1. Rebooting PC
2. Reinstalling whole game
3. Entirely Different PC
4. Rebooting Router
5. Factory reset and re-config router
6. Entirely Different Router
7. Entirely Different Internet Connection
8. Time Zone set to auto and correct location
All consistent Error 140. This is definitely a problem with the game's match making and networking all of a sudden.
1) Open Task Manager
2) Start the game normally
3) In Task Manager, End Task every line about Epic Online Services
4) you'll see a splash screen for Easy Anti Cheat like normal. Let it finish.
5) once it's finished and the real game starts to load, go to Task Manager and End Task on Easy Anti-Cheat too.
