For some of us, it is an optimization problem. Black screen before main menu, crash at launch ?
Until a patch fixes it, set you power options to power saver. It will slightly reduce your perfomances but you will get to play the game.
Hopefully it helps

What operating system are you using? What kind of Hard drive? How much memory?

Same, happens on two seperate PCs that I have. One PC running on an R9 5900x while the other on a R7 5700x, both on 32gb ram and 1tb PCI-4 nvme.

Tried playing on both using diffrent nvidia and AMD GPUs (RX6600, RX6800 & RTX 2060 12gb, RTX 3060 12gb) and the problem persist on both, doesn't matter if i have set to low, med or high.
Only diffrence is that setting it to Low helps a bit with the frame drops in graphics heavy scenes with swarms when playing at higher difficulty modes.

Random crashes usually happens when playing operations (I've also crashed while playing campaign, but only once or twice) usually at halfway or near the end of an operation mission.
Meanwhile, disconnection issues seems to be more prevelant when doing solo operations runs with bots, disabling crossplay helps but it still happens after playing for a while.

This problem seems to be random, some people have it, while others dont. Only thing we can do for now is wait for the next major patch to fix this (this is a known issue and saber probably already has a fix in the works), they should have it up just before this month ends.

I'm having a problem where the game will crash during the cinematic at the beginning of "Severance". It will load and a second later it will freeze, the audio will keep going, then the screen will go black and basically crash. Is that a problem you or anyone else has run into before? I have tried all kinds of different settings, and its only on that cinematic that this issue has come up for me and its the exact same point every time.

I Had the same thing but on another level changing the power settings in Display Settings > Graphics to high in windows fixed it I still get the odd crash here and there tho.

I had the exact same issue and I fixed it today!

1. Move the game installation location to your SSD

2. Reduce the strain on your graphics card by cleaning it and adding additional cooling. Clean the ventilators in the laptop (open it and remove the heating system to clean the space between the ventialtor and vents to the outside. get professional help if you have never done that, as you need to apply cooling paste afterwards and remove alot of small screws)

This made my pc less warm and overall less strained. I also added additional cooling station that i put the laptop on. But that was just another addition.

Now it runs on high settings. I never thought this could be fixed but this worked wonders. Smooth gameplay. And other games I had installed run smoother too!

Windows 11 with 16gb ram. I doubt it's a ram issue rather cpu issue. Samsung 980 SSD.

Could overclocked cpu be the issue here?

I have the exact same cpu as you and can't even get to the battle barge after the main menu. It's probably a game optimization issue.

I have had that issue in campaign the screen freezes and you can hear audio still then crashes to windows. But after the campaign in online it stutters for a moment thrn a few secons later it crashes.
Is there a point to buy games on launch anymore? Every game is badly optimised.

You described exactly how my crashes happens. I crash almost every game on operations and campaign not so mutch. Sucks so mutch that I can't level up my classes while my friends are lvl 20 already.

I haven't had this problem anywhere else in the game, and its only happening during the one cutscene at the very start of Severance before you start playing. I have tried to even skip the cutscene but it doesn't do anything, the crash happens even if the cutscene is paused. I had some stuttering in earlier parts of the game but those went away after lowering some settings and it was the very first time I played the game so there might have also been some start up stuff going on there since it was the first time running. Hopefully this is something that can patched in a future hotfix, either from the game devs or the driver being updated since I get a bug report notification when the crash happens, but it is irritating that its happening at all.

That was one of the first things I tried but it doesn't change anything. I have also tried to verify file integrity and nothing changed.
