More seriously, probably some kind of heros syndrom. Want to be the one to have the gene, the most kill, the most xp, the most everything cause why not ? He's an elit player. Kinda toxic. Didn't encounter anyone doing that until now, thanks the emperor
I'd suggest changing it to fully downed and waiting for respawn to reduce potential drama, while making it easier to discern between unintentional failure to keep hold of the precious Gene-Seed and actual griefing.
You do, if you get downed at all it just dissappears instantly. Meaning it's super easy to grief or just miss a single parry and lose it on harder difficulties where you can get stun-locked etc.
