You can't respond as fast as you can with the other weapons. That is it's biggest weakness. That being said, the Las Fusil is satisfying as hell.
bolt action has basically infinite ammo.
reload pistol, gain 50% bolt action mag.
bolt action has no chargetime.
havent played the las maxed out. (bc the f___king server keep disconnecting)
Yep, that's its only downside. Also, It seems to me that railings and other blocking objects attract the laser like magnets.
i will also note that marksman carbine still has fairly quick ttk. obviously you're not going to be downing zoanthropes in 2-3 shots like you do with fusil, but the TIME to down one will still be comparable (as long as you're landing headshots) to the las.
it depends on how you want to approach the fights.
I personally find the lasers boring and not satisfying.
With the right weapon skills and class perks you can play a mid-close combat range bolt sniper with almost zero cloak cooldown
and thus make the fight very aggressive-passive
quick tap with the bolt sniper in close range combat with parry tapping +cloak for a quick escape and then straight back into the fight.
+bolt headshots stagger on majoris so good - tyranids or chaos it doesnt matter
I enjoy mastering that more than LAZ or "Melta" with other classes
Group composition is nice with tactical, vanguard or heavy (vanguard or heavy also with CDR for the group and you as a sniper provide them 10% cdr through per/hs-kill and you have additional 5% CDR per headshot kill anyway - btw this also includes miniros headshot kills)
The tactical with his heavy bolt gun snacks on the minoris, how quickly do you think he can keep his scan up for the next pack of majoris doer terminus enemies.
And suddenly it makes sense to think about the respective perks for weapons and classes, which means questioning the interaction between your class and the team composition apart from "Laz" and "Melta"

With Las you could always spam stealth but then all of that aggro and pressure is going towards your teammates.
I can react to anything with las fusil. I can roll and snap headshots at any range.
0 reason to use bolt sniper for now. Damage difference is just too much. Why would i use bolt sniper when i can solo any mission with las fusil.
They need to make it so bolt weapons have their own gimmick. Right now bolt weapons don't have anything they do better than say, melta, plasma, las fusil etc.
So is it a must to play Las ? Nope. Just like I've seen heavy with bolter wrecking everything.
It may be an unpopular stance, but I'm here to have fun and good play, not to have eyegasm by looking at my 16K damage at the end of the mission by the power of meta. 16K damage I can do with Bulwark by just playing normaly, anyway.

If I can do that with a Bulwark using pistol bolter... A sniper with bolter can do better. You can go without Melta / Las meta and have fun. That's as simple as it is
Because it's boring....
