how come theres no flamer?
it was featured in the angles of death trailer so why not in base game? (idk if its a campaign only weapon i havent played much of the main story yet)
but how come its not a weapon in pve? it would be excellent for a crowd control weapon against tyranid swarms.

it's in the campaign.

the Q&A said they are considering adding it into the multiplayer side

It is?!

there is a flamethrower in campaign, but.. it's mostly useless or just to deal with those mini insect/swarm

They confirmed they are going to add it to the campaign. But they will need to rework animations, balance and so on.

Most likely, with new class.

the melta gun basically does what a flamer would do anyway.

Please no. Flamer already was too OP in darktide.

it's worthless, completely underpowered.

the problem is it runs out of ammo quickly, a flamer could do smaller damage with a wider spread with a lot of ammo

I want shotguns and flamers.... but melta is doing what they both do at the same time. I want the oldschool melta where there is a beam you need to center on the enemy. Not some fire and forget shotgun amalgamation.
But...But... Salamanders

That'd be the Volkite weapons

*shrug*

The devs should rework the melta to make it a sustain, short range beam weapon that does massive damage, even against armored enmies, and the flamer should take its place as large cone AOE weapon.

Sadly, neither will happen.
- one is in campaign
- second is in operations and Rubricae uses it xD

but seriously - what for? melta is not enough?

That's the real problem here.
The melta is very, VERY poorly designed and do a job it shouldn't do.
Melta is supposed to be a very strong anti armor weapon.
It should be a short burst beam of 1 or 2 seconds that melt rubrics and warrior, it SHOULDN'T be a large cone shotgun that do not do any damage to armored enemies.

As it is, it literally takes all the space of the flame thrower (but then again... there is half a dozen of bolter weapons that step on eachothers feet, so here's that).

Pretty much this.
For a dedicated anti armor weapon, such a wide cone is counterproductive.
Narrow the cone down by 50 or 75% and raise it´s damage.
Much like it´s depicted in DoW II, a concentrated heat beam.

That would open up a place for the Pyroblaster as a area denial / anti group weapon which the Meltas currently holding and the Meltas become short ranged powerhouses against single targets or small, tightly packed groups.
